Hehe. 'You never know.' I'm in that category. It is whatever it turns out to be. I then have to figure out what category it's in.

Yeah, I have stories in a bunch of different categories here on this fine site known as Lush...at one point, I believe I had the record for most categories here on Lush...though I've since been passed on that one...
I wouldn't say that I necessarily tried to get in the most categories...it just sort of happened as I kept writing, that I ended up with a number of stories that fit different categories...wasn't really something I set out to do though...it's just that when you keep writing, inevitably you'll end up with a variety of stories...
Unless you're one of those people who re-writes the same story a hundred times over...and I've seen that a few times since I started writing four years ago...just sayin'
I prefer to keep to what I know best.
I've kicked off with a few stories, and for some reason, there's plenty more in the pipe. I'll probably feed the beast and try and get them out of my system.
But in the meantime, I'm desperate not to be typecast as a one trick pony, so my next story is pretty mainstream, albeit a bit hardcore. And I'll follow that up with a BDSM. I want to build up a fairly balanced spread of work, then hopefully shake out a novel with some commercial appeal.
My latest story is a racy little piece about what happens when someone cute from work invites you over to watch Netflix and Chill. I tend to write in many genre's but reluctance is probably my favorite. I like to do different things though and sometimes I wonder how readers feel about that. Would they prefer their favorite writer keep to one style and genre? That might be worth a thread of its own.
I don't specifically write "for" a genre, rather, I've just naturally fallen into different ones...
I'd not be averse to writing for just about any category, but I won't write specifically for it..
When I'm ready to post the story, that's when I decide which category it goes into...
As I said on my profile; I'm a very versatile writer, so I haven't really branched out to the many different categories. Rather inspiration strikes me, I write a story, and it could be for any random category.
I pretty much stick to two categories. I come up with senarios which could be straight sex or lesbian and depending on my mood write it as such.
Like many others, I write to complete a story and then work out the category. Once I have my current story finished, I would like to write a story under the constraint of a category for the challenge. There are some categories that I simply have no affinity for - each to their own though.
I have found my most successful stories to be either true stories (with some embellishments for reader pleasure) or really deeply engrained fantasies I've had for a while and had a chance to develop. Since those are in certain categories, that is where most of my stories lie: masturbation, lesbian, light bondage, exhibitionism, etc. I wouldn't have a problem for writing other types of stories, I just don't think they would be as high quality, since it's not what I am truly passionate about.
I'm pretty much with with the lovely Mazza - I start writing and as it progresses it evolves into the category.
One published "Surprise" and another that got tossed back for some editing errors, it's the first chapter of what will become a novel
Knowing me, I'll probably set myself a challenge at some point to write in every category. I like variety and love the freedom that Lush gives for exploring new areas - as you can see by the witches, wizards, dinosaurs, machines and now zombies who have cropped up in my stories here.
I normally just write, and whatever it falls under great, however I have tried to write under all the categories I feel comfortable with. I've written under all but three of them. The other three just aren't ones I'd want to write under.
My favorites though are oral, BDSM, reluctance and lesbian.
