Embellishment/collaborative works

I've never paid much attention to the "embellish" option on stories, or for that matter read any embellishments (that I'm aware of, anyway). Are there many examples where this has worked well? Anyone with experience on their own stories?

After submitting my most recent story "Circle of Friends" I wondered how a similar story would work as a collaborative effort - allowing authors to pick up the next encounter - much in the way the word games work on the forum.

If any one has tried this with a story I'd be intrigued to see how it worked out.

I have seen and have tried to read a few of those. They mostly looked like train wrecks. Alas, I did not bookmark them as a favorited site, so I cannot refer you to the carnage.

But they do exist here, in the archives.

The same GQP demanding we move on from January 6th, 2021 is still doing audits of the November 3rd, 2020 election.

The only one that I saw which worked well, and had four or five contributors was a story started by Juliasari. Unfortunately, since she left lush almost a year ago, that story is not around for me to point you to as an example of what works. Basically, she wrote an opening chapter which introduced a set of characters on a street in the suburbs, and then left it up to the contributors to decide which ones to write about, and what would happen. Since there were multiple households, multiple story lines could be written at the same time and woven together. She also requested that anyone who wanted to write an embellishment for the story contact her first, so she could ensure that no two people were working on the same characters, having them do conflicting actions.
