Is there a way to save your story before you post it? I have a few ideas for stories I want to try and was wondering if you can save your draft at Lushstories before you submit it. I think it would be easier than saving elsewhere and then doing the cut and paste thing. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated
Yes, you can compose part of the story and then select save draft instead of publish on the second page of the submission process.

I don't know if this works better than composing elsewhere and then pasting, which is what I did with my first story. What do other people here do?

I compose everything in Scriviner. Everything is backed up to my cloud. When I'm ready to share, I compile it into HTML and then post it online if the site accepts HTML tags in post.

"The Punished Nonpartisan" <- Extreme BDSM and humiliation story. Heavy on plot. Served on a plate of political drama with a side of domestic terror. Currently Free download.

Jocelyn the Wicked <- futanari, fantasy fan fic, and some tentacles that escaped the laboratory

Yes, there is a Save Draft button. However, like Jocelyn, I do my writing elsewhere (sometimes MS Word, sometimes Google Docs, even LibreOffice once or twice) and then paste the final product into the submission box. I just don't like the editor here compared to tools like those.
But sometimes, on some systems, things can go horribly wrong formatting-wise if you try to paste from, say word, into a text box. Isn't it the case that stories here are supposed to be in plain text?

If any mods are reading this, sorry for the dumb questions but it would be really helpful to have a sticky post with advice on how to actually write a story on here, not just the advice on grammar and so on. It's not difficult though, even I managed to do it!

There are three paste buttons in the story submission box. For Word, you use the "Paste from Word" button (the third one that has the W on it). For others, highlight the text in your app, Copy it, then click the second, "Paste as Plain Text" button (the one with a T) and when the paste box opens, right-click, and choose "Paste as plain text" (at least in Chrome, not sure if all browsers have this). You may need to fiddle with formatting a bit with pasted text, but it largely works. Paste from Word works just fine nowadays.

Using a word processor and then pasting makes writing and editing easier, allows you to use grammar and spellcheckers, and if you're serious about writing, use tools like Scrivener that wicked_Jocelyn mentioned. The Lush editor is strictly for doing final formatting and cleanup, IME and IMHO.
Just be aware that no one but you can read it until it's been verified and posted.

If you want feedback, that only option I can think of is to send the file (possibly in Word) to people you know.
