Sounds like you would need to be some kind of medical proffesional then, numbing your arm just the right ammount at just the right location.

I know the story. And as far as I know it's just that: a story, a known joke that the American Pie movie used for one of their scenes. And although I'm sure some guys must have tried it once, but I don't think it's actually a thing.

Well yes, as i said its an idea that was passed around by guys. When i was an apprentice the older guys would always give it as a tip for the younger ones.

Are you saying that's not a thing either? Damn, wish I'd found that out years ago. Have had my equipment go numb while bike riding - turns out that's also not an enjoyable thing, though it does feel very weird and the pins and needles aren't entirely off-putting.
