Ask your physician or ARNP to prescribe Seasonique (generic name is Cerese, ingredients are the standard among most oral BCP's--ethinyl estradiol and levonorgestrel).
It's taken daily for three months at a go, meaning that you menstruate four times per year. In my case, my physician prescribes it so that I can take it with no break--so no periods, ever. I've been on it for at least seven years, before the patent ran out and the generic became available, and have suffered no ill effects.
Multiple studies have shown that a pre-menopausal woman who do not experience a regular period (as with Depo-Provera, aka "the shot", aka medroxyprogesterone acetate, or Nexplanon or Implanon, both of which are etonogestrel rods about the size of a matchstick implanted beneath the skin of the upper arm) do not suffer any adverse effects, with the exception of some reports of irritation or difficulty of removal at the site of the implant of Nexplanon or Implanon. Personally, I prefer Seasonique simply because if I decide to become pregnant again, it's just a matter of stopping the pills--the ingredients clear within 96 hours. This is not true of the "the shot" nor of the implants.
Anyway, just tossing this out there as an idea for not experiencing "that time of the month".

I too have gone to a 3-month pill (but I get a generic so I'm not sure what the "brand name" is) and it's been HEAVEN. My husband enjoys the lack of my period and I like the thought of no period for a nice long time. Mind you, in my case, my week "off pill" as I call it is extra heavy, but it's so worth it.
Bethany; Thanks for asking as I've wondered from time to time if I was normal. I get to thinking that my guy is a bit self serving and unrealistic during my, shall I dare say "Moody Moment". The fact that I recognize it's me on the emotional roller coaster only adds to my feeling of inadequacy..sigh I sure wish there was a pill for that.
HeraTeleia; I'm going to see if your mention is available in the U.S. Thanks for you comments.
we're sexually close to another couple, and it used to be when Lisa was on the rag, her guy would come to me, and my guy would go to her when it was my turn, but the past few months we've gotten synchronized, so the guys are out of luck!
Actually the first three days I'm cramping so bad sex is not on my mind at all. A mans best friend is his dog, mine is Advil... Extra strength. After the cramps are gone shower sex is an option. My flow is usually light toward the end. He's huge so anal is not an option.
I don't follow . . . it doesn't last THAT long. I find it hard to imagine a guy is so sex-reliant he can't go for a few days without it.
But for me . . . I don't lose interest in sex during my period, just the opposite.
All I can say is
Grrrrrrrrrrrr!
I cope
I don't really have a problem with penetration during my period. It's not that big of a deal but I guess everyone is different. I am frankly the most horny I ever get during my period so I would hate to give up sex at that time. Shower sex is a good option and it's fun cleaning him up!
If penetration just isn't your thing then I would master your hand job and blow job skills.
Many good ideas have been posted here for you to consider. I use "the shot" for birth control and I am lucky in that I do not have a big problem with cramps but many women do. My big advice is this, I am a nurse and would urge you to talk to your Doc about your problems/feelings/etc. There are many many b/c drugs out there and many are slightly formulated differently. They accomplish the same thing in terms of b/c but all of us are different in terms of hormone levels, etc. Get some blood work done and get evaluated by a competent Doc so they can prescribe what they feel is best suited to your body.
My husband usually stays away when I'm menstruating which is fine, because I have terrible periods. Very heavy and I lose a ton of blood.
BUT.....
Thank GOD, for waterproof vibrators. Because, I just take them into the shower.
