I've often thought that the whole 'dating game' is just a form of tacit prostitution. Someone takes you out, buys you drinks/food/cinema tickets/whatever all evening, and there's an unspoken assumption that they're going to get something out of it at the end. So, essentially, they're paying for you to have a nice time on the understanding that you'll engage in some form of sexual activity with them.
