Hi there.
The other day I came across this video on Youtube, of this guy called Tom Leykis. It was about "women over the hill".
He looked so pissed off, so bitter, so mean and cruel that it was just surprising.
Basically he comes to say that women are like superman, they are very powerful when they are young, they can do whatever they want with men, but their cryptonite is aging, once they turn a certain age they no longer have power over men. And once this moment comes, the man can show up and laff at her and say "you got what you deserve".
I just assumed this guy has been seriously damaged in the past, and retribution seems to be the source of his kicks.
But I wonder, until what extent this guy is a reflection of Western values? We live in a material society , where looks, class and money seems to the be only important thing, so is this guy just a product of modern times?
Anyway, I am curious to know that the women here think about it.
If you want to hear the video just put "tom leykis women over the hill" on YouTube.
Okay I listened to this one, and another one too, and the guy doesn't respect women, and resents them because they wouldn't talk to his geeky ass when he was young, but whatever, he's a radio guy playing a part. No worse than Rush Limbaugh or anyone else, paid to say some provocative shit.
I never heard of this guy before, but sounds like he is like some kind of role model for guys that can't figure out the game on their own, where he teaches them how to treat women in order to fuck them. There was another video where he goes into more detail about that- like, not answering your phone on Friday and Saturday nights, never giving them compliments, that kind of thing. Pretty hateful and male chauvinist, and his advice will get a fool slapped and told off as often as laid, but he's not teaching guys how to find a soulmate, he is talking about picking girls up and using them. I always say as long as the girl knows whats up, and girls, we have to keep our eyes open, then that's fine. You're only getting used if you expected something more or different than the guy did. Is this guy mean in the way he talks about women, hell yes he is, but I meet more than a few guys who think at least a little bit like him, if not a lot like him.
He talks about women who didn't want to talk to him, much less fuck him, when he was 19, 20, 21 years old, and says 'haha, that's fine bitches, I'll be fucking your little sister when I'm 30, and your daughter when I'm 40, and you'll be an old hag that nobody gives free shit to anymore, you deserve it.' I don't think deserving has anything to do with it, its life. There are some seriously hot 40 year old women out there, are there more hot 20 year olds? Of course, more than twice as many probably, but again that's all just life, its not about what men and women deserve.
Am I guilty of not giving the time of day to a lot of 17-22 year old guys? Definitely. I prefer to associate with older guys that act more mature, are smoother, have their act together and have more money. Sue me. If you choose to look at this attitude like like I'm a bitch that will deserve loneliness when I'm 50, that's your choice. It works both ways though, whether you're male or female, being a judgemental shitbag now will surely pay off later in life when others get tired of your act.
And yes I think all of this is real to the world now, at least in some people's world. I remember Driver going on and on about LA this, LA that, and some people shooting back "that's not reality!". Well it is his reality, and even if part of that was an act, it is a lot of people's reality for sure, that doesn't make it fake just because it's not your idea of life. The stuff this guy spews, its not imaginary, I see that attitude all the time. Lots of people want the money, sex, and the good time. Hell, me included, I'm no angel-girl. I'm not looking for a husband, so I can't get on a pedestal about too much here. I want cash, I want security, and mostly I do it with the help of guys, but on my own. Because thats my goal, those are my ends, does that create the attitude that this guy spouts off with? I'll let you guys decide, I'm still thinking about it.
Thanks for the answer, LadyX. What worries me is that the guy seems to have a base of supporters, if you check those videos on youtube, there's a lot of comments from guys saying he is right, so I guess he channels all this anger and bitterness of this so called "battle of the genders".
I think it's a bit sad this attitude, I guess there's a lot of pain and resentment behind, like a lot men were broken toys.
I definitely have a problem with guys like him treating women like sex toys. Although I do concede that there are enough women out there who like money, and status enough to make the idea successful. And to be fair, I understand some of it. When I go out, I prefer to be the one paying on the dates. Makes me feel like I'm taking care of the girl, and makes her feel like she's being taken care of. You need money to do that. Generally, you need more money than the woman, because you don't want to make her live below her standards if you want her to feel that she's being taken care of.
What Leykis ignores, is the growing trend of rich, succesful women who are trading in for younger models too. I wonder how that fits into his whole life theory. Women aren't the only ones who can be drawn by cash and the promise of the good life.
I'm young, and while I tend to get along with people of all ages, I do tend to go after women who I can relate to. If I'm still single at 50, or back on the market again, I will probably go after someone who has experienced similar things to me, rather than someone who has almost nothing in common.
There's nothing new about what this guy is saying...
The real issue I have with his argument about being 50 and being able to now date 19 year olds who are hot to chat him up is that it still only happens if the guy has cash, not because 50 year old men are so intrinsically hot to a 19 year old.
If he has some cash and status and a 19 year old wants to ride him for free trips and jewelry then all the power to her, but she's still using him for free shopping trips, laughing behind his back with her friends, and hooking up with hot twenty-something guys for great sex when he's not looking.
He shouldn't feel all proud of himself about it. And even worse, if you stack up a good looking 25 year old "blue-blood" wealthy guy versus an older wealthy guy, the better looking and younger guy will still win it by a mile.
The old guys can get younger girls, but they're still paying for it.
A wealthy 50 year old MILF can get herself a hot little "cub" too...
It's not so much about ageism as about whoever has the cash/status can get whoever they want (whether they are male or female). He just says it in a much more arrogant way to elicit fury. But the argument is as old as time.
I just wanted to point out it's Kryptonite. Sorry, it's the Geek in me.
