Idea: New chat feature. Hide, don't seek.

Right now, there are two things you can do if you don't want to interact with another user.

1. You can block other users so they can no longer access your profile.

However, this only prevents their access to your profile. They can still direct @ messages at you in the chatroom, and they can still send you PMs.

2. You can hide blocked users so you no longer see what they write.

But this brings other problems with it, since it worsens my chatroom experience when a blocked user is hidden from me.

I know that sounds strange, but bear with me.

When I hide a user, it doesn't just hide their chat text but also everything where they're mentioned. In other words, if a third user interacts with the blocked user, I don't see the @blocked tag, and it can get very confusing.

That's why I'd like an additional option. I want to be able to hide myself from blocked users — basically flipping "hide blocked users" around.

That way, someone who's annoying me can't tag me. They also can't message me without a tag, since they wouldn't even know I'm there.

With regards to blocking members in the chatrooms - click on their name, in the pop up box click the 3 dots in the top right corner, then click 'Block'. That will stop them (& yourself) from being able to pm & mention.

That is only partly correct. I can still @you after you blocked me.

So it seems that the block system in the chatrooms is faulty, wonky at best.
A member I block can still 'mention' me in the chatrooms.
I do agree with you - this needs to be rectified as soon as possible.

Fortunately Ive never had to use the block function but can fully appreciate the need for such a function on the site. And as it is an important function it’s vital that it does what it’s supposed to do and protect those that have been forced to use it. The safety of people using lush should be paramount. Good luck in pushing this and getting the necessary changes made forthwith.
