People being in multiple chatrooms

I'm guilty of this on occasion, but I know find it annoying when I see people in 4 chatrooms at the same time, all of which have reached full capacity. Yes this does make me a hypocrite and I won't be doing it again after being on the receiving end of it.

Just want to get people's thoughts on it
I personally have never seen more than 2 rooms full (i.e. at 25 or more occupants).

The turnover in the rooms is quite quick in my view and I dont believe members have to wait long to get in.

However lets see what other chat room users thoughts are smile.
I don't think it's appropriate. If the room limits were higher, I wouldn't mind, but 25 is a fairly low number, and I think it's unfair to be using up spaces in two or more rooms. I've been tempted, I won't deny it, but I think of. how I would feel if all the rooms I wanted to get into were full because people were in multiple rooms.

I agree 100% and when you do get in a room chances are those that are in multiple rooms are only lurkers...
Shameless plug:

The 25 capacity restriction does not affect Gold Members. I know it's not listed in the perks, but I've tested it myself and know for a fact that if a room is full to capacity (25 members), a Gold Member will still be able to get in, and it'll be reflected in the numbers (i.e. 26 members in currently in the room).

25 is a decent compromise figure - if you increased it any more women would get swamped with whispers.

On other chat sites, users are booted if they don't interact for a certain period (10 minutes or so) maybe that would be an alternative, or maybe set up a queueing system so you just have to wait until someone drops out.

Hey hey!! You are assuming the men dont get swamped with whispers .. how very sexiest lol.

Actually there is a routine that scans the room for members that have been inactive for 20 minutes (maybe 30 not sure) and they are removed from the room.
i dont wander when being in a room...but when the room is full and a friend wants in...I will leave and make room for them...As a gold member i can return.....
I think that a cap of 25 is quite sufficient. As for people being in multiple rooms simultaneously, I can totally understand the frustration in being affected by that. However, the idling system in place filters out those that may be lurking instead of chatting, and gently escorts them out of the room. I also agree that aside from the main posters in the room, there is a quick turn over in the rooms and the wait to get in is typically brief. Gold members go into the head count of the room, but don't impact the room's capacity. That's always been one of my favorite Gold perks.
I think the whole site operates very well, and I thank the powers that make it work

Good ideas.

I find it difficult to concentrate on the goings on in one chat room, let alone multiple rooms. With that in mind, should we restrict it so members can only be in one room at a time?

Two things if I may:

Firstly the limit of 25 members in a room (possibly more with gold members and moderators). This was set some time ago and thus could this be reviewed?. The hardware and software capacity that the site now has must have changed dramatically since that limit was set.

Secondly perhaps this could be polled?. I must say however in my experience only a relatively small number of regular chat rooms users look at this forum or indeed any of the forums.

edit .. oh I love the idea of only being able to moderate 1 room .. gimme gimme sum of dat plz! (reminds me of a record)

Huh. So that's why I can get into a room that theoretically is full...as to the being-in-multiple-rooms thing, I don't even know how to do that, or why one would want to do that at all.
Want to spend some time wallowing in a Recommended Read? Pick one! Or two! Or seven!

I find being in one chatroom at a time too confusing. Can't imagine four.
I have never tried to be in more than one room.... with 25 people all chatting 1 - 2 - 1 its very difficult to break into a conversation and often just get ignored
I simply cant understand why you would be ignored.. however I am usually in more than 1 room at a time and I just copy/paste the same blah blah between them and send it to anyone that messages me .. it doesnt always work .. e.g. How are you? .. Steak and chips with peppercorn sauce ... Are you horny? .. sunny all day and around 25c ... oh well.
i thought you could only be in two rooms at once.....anyway ...25 makes a room plenty busy as well....any more than that is no fun....actually 20 would be even better..When i cum across a situation where a room is full it usually only takes one or two tries to get in...and as for being in multiple rooms it is a nice feature to use if you open a private "suite" and maybe your guest left or never showed up..now you can go find another "guest" without closing your room down. Always remember if you cant get in a room or dont like the ones available you *can* always create your own open room for everyone to enjoy..
and john you crack me T.F. UP!!....LOLOLOL
I will just say I am happy that I can enter rooms that are full because of my status. It's a wonderful perk.
In my opinion, people shouldn't be in different chat rooms at the same time, particularly when the rooms are at full capacity. It's more a matter of respect for the other members than a simple rule of the site.
25 seems a fair number of participants.

oh wow skunky, should spend more time here..lol

before i waa a gold member i would sometime spend 15 or b20 minutes trying to get on to interact with a certain person only to find out that many people were in different rooms and by the time i finally got on the person i was pursuing was now gone. the problem is, when a regular person leaves, the number is reduced but only by the number of regular numbers. the limit is still the number of gold members and mods

I have actually been in a room where I was the 29th person in the room. And I do believe that while mods in a room are reflected in the number, they do not count towards the 25 limit in the room, though I could be wrong about that.

Mods do count towards the 25 limit.

I agree, especially if you are in one of the pic rooms. since the trolls and lurkers tend to be the free members, or those less invested in the sight, Why not make it a graduated process, free and bronze, only one room, silver 2, gold 3, platinum, unlimited. Also, what about restricting whispering in the rooms to paid members. Unpaid members could get whispers but not send, or even could not send or receive. There are other sites that restrict whispers to paid members, so not without precedence.

Thanks Dani. As i said, i wasn't sure. I do agree with most people here who say it's hard enough to follow a convo in one full room, especially if it is a pic room, and/or you are chatting with multiple people. You might hear the uh oh, but hard to tell if it was from the room you are actively in, or another room. I have done it a few times, but mostly just to go say something quickly to someone in another room.
Good topic I think...smile

I understand those being in many chat rooms to have fun.

If ya can chat with many in other chat rooms...fine ok...smile...Have fun then.

But...................And here's the thing with me..................

If you're trying to get in my pants and ya are already playing with someone in another room at the same time?

Like I can't see that silly.

I just made a mental note of you for that, and I will definitely stop talking with you quickly.

Since I know ya do that?...I probably won't go out of my way to hook up with you after knowing that ya know.

skunky

You must have quoted me by mistake.

Those who operate in multiple rooms must be very talented people as I find it hard to know what's going on even in one room... But I'll not support the idea of restricting it as I've not seen any room filled to capacity except temporary rooms created by the members... still I'd say that as the volume of members is increasing continuously, the maximum capacity of chat rooms should be increased... You may, however, also like to review nature and type of chat rooms and adding some new or fresh features for which suggestions can be asked from members.
I like the way you make me feel even when I'm nowhere near...
I really like Adele ideas

And I would agree
But I do remember the frustration of trying to get into rooms before I had that perk, however rooms don't seem as busy at the moment as they have been in the past.
I really don't understand the need for being in more than one room at a time, unless you are hedging your bets of course.
