Soft Landing in the Lounge

Part of the welcome message in the Lounge used to state that it is a “soft landing” and that explicit chat is for other rooms only. This message has now been changed. From recent incidents in there, it seems that regular members still feel that this is the case, but it isn’t made clear anywhere. Is it still officially a soft landing, or is explicit chat now acceptable in there?

We would rather keep 'rules' pertaining to the chat rooms to a minimum. My understanding is, and I spend hours and hours in the rooms every day (coughs), roleplaying and/or cyber in the Lounge is not an issue.

By “not an issue”, do you mean people don’t do it, or that other people don’t mind when they do? Because neither of those are the case, hence my asking for clarification

It is not a regular occurrence, by any means, and typically other members in the room offer advice to take it elsewhere.

I remember, it was on July 25, 2025 when the old welcome messages for each room disappeared after hours of Chatroom blackout.

How about the Softcore room set for a softer, more sensual experience? In line with not sharing images containing: penetration, oral, masturbation (including mutual masturbation) and bodily fluids, the chat discussions, including roleplay and/or cyber, of such were encouraged by mods to be moved to the 'more appropriate' rooms.

They do, but this is leading to arguments in the lounge as it is an “understanding” from longer term members, based on old guidelines. These guidelines are no longer stated, so is it still reasonable to expect them to be upheld?

Not a chatter so I have no skin in this game, but if there are expectations for how a room (or forum in the forums) is to operate and how people are to behave, expecting members to self-police is not how you do it. Put it in writing and moderate. Absent that, anyone can reasonably claim other expectations are just as valid.

I am a stickler for the rules. But from my understanding, due to the lack of wording in the Welcome message these days, anything goes in the lounge chatroom. Except image/gif sharing. So it seems that it's now acceptable - as in it's no longer a rule - for explicit chat to happen in the Lounge.
I, personally, would prefer if the explicit chat went to another room (eg. Bedroom, Basement or Eye Candy), so those who are not interested in explicit chat can remain in the lounge & enjoy their general chats with other like-minded members.
I'm sorry I can't answer your question as to whether the lounge is still officially a soft landing room for general chats. I do hope a proper, 'official' answer can be made available some time soon.

Having been on this site longer than many, I lament the passing of the old , informative, room descriptions. It was fairly clear to all then what content one could expect to find in any given room. I rarely stay in the lounge, so have not seen anything untoward. In the basement, however, it's a different story ! It used to be stated that it was 'A room for BDSM afficionados. And pics.gifs etc were to be 'on theme' . It might as well be re-named Liza and Megs' anything goes pic room now. Because it has become a sort of 'Eye-Candy 2'. Not at all BDSM themed, which I, and others, find rather sad.

I have been a member of this site for over ten years. I remember when the site was free and people could post pictures in peace but members like Sylvia have gone out of their way to tell people what they can and can't post. More people are posting pictures in the rooms

Some people want the basement to be like the lounge. Where no one really chats and just sits in the rooms for hours. It was done their way with no one posting pictures just barely chatting about their feelings. It was like the lounge number two with no one posting just people in the room not saying anything much

They need to stop coming at Liza. She makes the rooms interesting and people like her pictures. The rooms are always popping when someone is posting pictures

I like posting pictures and chatting. We are all adults can't we behave like it. They need to stop going after people for posting what they want.

Liza was nice enough to make a room for them but they still come after her and that's not fair. The basement should be a place for everyone to post. Not certain people being bossy and unwelcoming to people

But you are turning things on their head meg. If she want's to post her own stuff... that's great. All she has to do is create her own room and voila! It's NOT however , up to her to create a room for others that feel ousted from their favourite room. It is completely the reverse of how this site traditionally worked. You have a particular interest?.... Fine... open a room for it. You don't just hijack an existing room.

Soft landings and consent. Each permanent room was designated with a purpose to attract a slightly different group of people and thus lush would function in harmony meeting diverse needs. Over the years changes to functions brought by evolutions of systems leave us where we are. But, the nature of the rooms should reflect there purpose. Basement was designated and designed as a place where Bdsm would be the primary purpose and would be the reason which drew people for conversation and connection. There is no other point or purpose for the room. I believe this is why during the day it ebbs and flows with time zones and conversation Lets keep the basement pure !

I am glad that a flutter can mean so much, and be oh so powerful! Whilst I bring my own kind of chaos to those I choose to know everywhere, I do believe in Chaos theory, and I am glad that it is suggested that the fluttering wings of a butterfly can be felt the other side of the globe, it gives me hope that I can caress your soul.

Sylvia no one is hijacking a room. Liza has every right to post her stuff in the basement. Sometimes the basement is quiet for hours with people barely posting. Liza comes in the rooms and liven them up with her pictures

People actually join in and start posting more pictures. It helps with the boredom.

If someone doesn't like it they can move on to the other rooms. No reason to be rude or harsh with someone over posting pictures

The basement and other rooms are for people posting what they like. I do there's only so much chatting that can be done in the picture rooms

Even the fake playing goes over the top sometimes with the same people doing it

At least with pictures you get to see something different and fun 😁 Sometimes a little bit of fun is what is needed after a long day and pictures help with that

Meg.... as I've said many times.... I have no issues with folks posting pics... au contraire. Just keep them aligned to the rooms' stated theme, that's all. If you want generalised porn pics... that's great.. we're all different, but there is an existing room for that. Why not use it, and leave others to enjoy their preferences in their preferred room. That way EVERYONE is happy.

Sylvia some of us are paid member's and have lifetime membership. We get to post what we want when we want.

No one is being hurt just some people trying to tell others what to do and what to post.

You don't like something move on or go to another room. Why should someone leave to make you happy?

If that's the case then the only thing that should be talked about in the basement is bsdm. No more long drawn out paragraph about feelings. Just bsdm talk and pictures. How long would that last before it gets boring? Oh wait it did before with just a few people posting the same thing

Now look at the basement people are posting pictures and some are happy. Expect for the very few people that are telling people what to do

I too have a lifetime membership. What I take umbrage at is this. You say that if I don't like it, move on. But why is it for ME to move?... I'm in a room of my chosing, because it is my preference, and has been for many years. Yet.... along comes someone who quite literally spams the room with all and any kind of porn, totally alien to the rooms historic theme, and it's for ME to move???? NO. That's not the natural order of things. You don't impose your own will, contrary to established patterns, to then say... if you're not happy, bugger off ! When you join somewhere, you respect it's guidelines and customs. if not, it's up to YOU to move! I appreciate that you'll never understand that, because it's not in your nature. But that is how society in general operates.

Rephrasing and rehashing a topic doesn’t solve anything What finds solutions is an open mind. The expectation that other people to move to your perspective is why there are laws and rules which govern life Let’s keep to the rules of the basement rather than an individual perspective

Exactly. My mind is open. All things in their own time and place. It's not the posting of pics per se that is my problem, It's simply that they don't reflect the theme of the room. If they do... then happily post away to your hearts content.

Sylvia right now you are angry and ready to keep going understand but I choose peace. We can all be in the basement and post what we like

How would you feel if someone told you not to post something? Would you stop posting to make the person happy or keep posting your stuff?

It's just a room online nothing to get upset over. At the end of the day. We are going to do what makes us happy. We can either move on or keep talking about it

You are always going to feel the way you do and that is understandable but I will post what I like. I can't speak for anyone else

The basement is for everyone to post in and that's what people are doing. I am liking the change in the rooms. No more just a few people posting

More people are posting and sharing their kinks. That's wonderful 😊

Meg, it seems you or doing here, what you don’t advocate doing in a room. It would appear on those occasions when someone comes into a room and abuses people and others intervene, your response is normally not to give the oxygen of discussion. Don’t keep stoking the fire !

I think experience tells us, certainly as far as the chat rooms go, that too many room rules are unwelcome, unnecessary, confusing and potentially negatively affect members enjoyment of the chat rooms in general. There is also the moderation of the rooms to consider. We do not have the capacity to deal with abuse reports because someone posted an image of their cat eating a mars bar in the basement because it is not BDSM related. In one room, B&W, we suggest that members post B&W images but it is not mandatory. However, we still get abuse reports because an image is posted that contains 2.67% of colour. As always you have a degree of control in the rooms as you do elsewhere; it's called the Block. You don't want to see images a member is posting or perhaps their messages; block them.

Sorry John..... that is a total cop out !

Uummm. I think you are very much mistaken there, John. That is a hard rule for the B&W room. Only Black and White pics are allowed. The exception being - Selfies can be in colour. The mods, MollyDoll & Leftlingula, have made that clear from day one - when it was a member room (a room that Leftlingula opened on occasion), before it became a Lush room. And that rule is still in place. It's also stipulated in the Welcome Message --- (Copied from the B&W room) Welcome to B&W. Images are enabled; black and white only please.

Thank you Simplyjohn Now can we move on and post what we like. It doesn’t hurt anyone to move past something you don't like. It's the weekend let's have some fun and get along with each other

It says, as you say, 'black and white only please'; I do not see that as a 'rule'; it is a polite request. If you interpret it differently that's fine.

Then what are the rules specific to the basement

There are no specific rules for that room as you can well see. However, obviously the chat room rules apply.
