I would like to do an audio of one of my stories, but every text-to-audio site I can find requires me to pay up front. My stories are typically under 5000 words, say, 30000 characters. Can anyone recommend a free site that I could use? Thank you so much. Love, Mica xxx
I think the idea is you audio in your own voice, unless I am misinterpreting your post, but someone more in the know will confirm or otherwise.

I think she meant one of those that offer professional voice services, the kind where you pay for them to do voice recording for voiceovers, dubbing, or recording your story for audiobooks. It's quite costly. They charge per word. There are free AI options. However, most sound robotic. As an option, she can crowdsource for someone, not necessarily a professional voice actor, maybe one of the members here, who is good at it and willing to record her story for free. I've listened to several audio stories here which were recorded by another member's voice.
Thank you. In the same way that I hide my face, I also do not want to use my voice. I had been told that there are AI services out there that could transcribe my written word into a voice, but I cannot find one. All the ones I find are paid for, and the free sample I try sounds awful! If, as it seems, no such suitable programme exists, then that is fine; my stories will remain unread aloud. I just wondered if any of the lovely Lush subscribers knew of one. 😘😘😘
Hmmmm... I could do it in a Kermit the frog voice or perhaps Bart Simpson and just for 100 t-bags and 5 x packets of chocolate biscuits? Seriously I suggest we wait to see what the rules are for audio stories.

The AI ones sound awful, so I wouldn't use that. If you don't want to do it yourself, I know that some lush people have asked other members to narrate for them. If you have a trusted friend here, that might be something to consider.

thank you, good idea. I really don't want to use my voice, and i did try narrating a story, to justr see how difficult it would be but goodness, to make it listenable requires good reading and orating skills!

I'd be quite happy to pay a fellow writer to record an audio version of a story, although the logistical difficulties involved would probably make it a non-starter. My reasons, however, would be quite different from yours, although I would argue, just as valid.
1. My northern English voice sounds awful on recordings.
2. I would like to offer a hands-free, different sensory experience option for anyone wanting to have a dip into what I've come up with.
Similar issue, different goals, I suppose!
