I don't get it. I'm awesomely fun, hip and cool. Why is it accountants in film and media are always portrayed as dull, boring, grey, virginal number crunchers?

Is this fair? Do you know any finance people? Are you a numbers person? I think there's a beautiful art in understanding numbers and interpreting them for people whose brains don't work that way. Mathematics is the language of the universe and I, for one, delight in trying to understand it.

~Waves shyly~ Uhmm... I'm in accounting, though not an accountant. I'm more like in the pa side of things. Does that count? In any case being in the field, I can say many are not dull or boring. Also, whilst math isn't my thing, I think its crazy that theres like formulas that express nature (like Fibonacci) and stuff like that. It underpins a lot of the science and verifies what we observe to be true as actually true. Theres a certain beauty to that.

My son is a CPA. Accountants are like every one else except they have better math and analytical skills. Sadly the media has many stereotypes for different professions.

Hmm. I work for an accountant and there's three others in our organization. All are pretty fun people to know and work with, though only one (not the boss) is what I'd call hot. I'd happily ... um ... do the books with her (attractive lady just a big younger than me) were she and I both available and interested. Just not sure how that translates into these poll options.

Perhaps its because you deal in numbers and spreadsheets and get excited about that... not very sexy/interesting to most people is it. Hence the stigma... if thats the right word to use.

I think that most folks have the wrong impression of folks bases solely on their occupation....in reality everyone or most everyone is the same. We all enjoy sex and we each have our perverted thoughts daily, drink and parry naked. I'm always available for sex on the spot with most anyone and at anytime during the day, but it hardly ever happens.

I had to deal with many in my career, most were blokes just doing their job, but I recall one very smart and sexy woman who I would have loved to have shared a bottle of wine with. She certainly didn't look like your archetypical 'Accountant'.

Well, my boss is an accountant and while he might not always seem it, he has a wicked sense of humour and makes a great emcee. And there's our controller, a longtime co-worker and personal friend of said boss, who is kind of hot (Okay, I had a wet dream about her not long after we met. So plenty hot.) So I could actually check off a number of those depending on which of the accountants I know we are talking about. But none of them are "dull and boring."
