What is your personal definition of the words "kept" (kept woman or man) and "owned"?
Good question. I would sat "kept" is you do everything you can to maintain the relationship and keep them with you at there own will. "Owned" sounds more like property and therefore not much is left to the person's own will.
A 'kept' woman is a mistress. A 'kept' man is a gigolo. A woman who is 'owned' is a submissive. A man who is 'owned' is a sad loser......that's how I see it!

From my understanding a 'kept' woman or man is being taken care of financially by another, whether they're in a committed relationship or it's a casual sort of thing.
'Owned' is more of a BDSM thing.
"What is the quality of your intent?" - Thurgood Marshall
There's no such thing as either, in my opinion.
Nobody is ever kept, they always give something in return. It can be companionship or sex or simply, their time.
We all have free will, so nobody can own us, but we can owned. I know that sounds like a misnomer but owning the emphasis is on the owner. Being owned is allowing oneself to be owned, and that can be permission can always be rescinded.
