Hey everyone.. i got an email from a lush member explaining all about her time on lush and that shes sad about leaving.. this got me thinking...

do you come here just to get your kicks? Or do you actually get so involved you think people actually are your friend and its like another world??

i personally come to mainly get my kicks.. there is times where its good to drift off into fantasy land.. but i dont think people truely care about whats going on in my real life..

whwts your thoughts??

I have yet to engage in any single person in conversation or communication outside of forum or blog posts. I'm not unwilling to I just haven't, and have always found making "friends" strictly online rather odd. However while I do enjoy the stories here and most certainly get my kicks from that, I also enjoy the forum topics and the discussions that can ensue. I would tend to think of Lush as leaning slightly more toward a community based on this simply for the fact that we are all here looking at, talking about, discussing, etc... sex, and doesn't a group of people with a common interest who gather together in one place make it at least a loose internet community? I would say yes

You can do a lot on this website. You can get your kicks but you can also make friends. I made a few friends on here who I would probably meet face to face and develop more of a friendship with.

I think most people find the site because of the stories, I know that I did. Then they discover that there's so much more like the forums and chat rooms. You can make good friends here but it's totally up to the individuals. I'd say I've made only one that I would say was a real friendship that I've swapped email and fb with and would be really concerned about.
When I first joined I didn't think that would be possible but it's true, you can create a bond with someone. If you think about it you usually start a conversation with someone you find "attractive" and you wouldn't if you don't. That means you miss all those people that are on your wavelength but you never knew it. Here you find them through the chatrooms or the forums and you discover that you like the person even if you don't fancy them. This can develop into a real friendship.

I lurked for a while, enjoying stories and the banter on the forums

Joined and started making friends - are they as close as those I see in Real Life? No, but I do try to provide support when they're down, cheer when they have something nice happen and just enjoy hearing about their interests and special things, and hope they feel the same

They are friends and I consider them such - so I can understand someone feeling sad about having to leave here

Agreed. I've learned a lot from being here these past two years now. In the beginning it was all about having FUN and I indeed had lots of fun BUT I also made many mistakes along the way. Many of those mistakes were fuelled by the fact that I wasn't being completely true to myself and therefore not very discerning about who I spent time with. Some people prefer to play a part whilst visiting Lush but that didn't and doesn't work me.

Through trial and error, a commitment to being myself and a promise to be much more discerning about who I friend and chat with, I have cultivated a wonderful group of people I am honoured to call my friends. And just like in real life, some friends are closer to me than others but they all have revealed themselves as being worthy in my eyes. Anything is possible if you're open to it but still discerning.

I mostly come on here to entertain myself with the stories and forums. However, I do interact regularly with a few people who I would call friends.

Lush is what you make it. It's a community if you want it to be, or there's plenty of stuff to get you off if you don't.
My latest story is a racy little piece about what happens when someone cute from work invites you over to watch Netflix and Chill.

i love the writing

i think the talent here is so amazing!!

but i adore the people

the wit, sexiness and intelligence is beyond compare

if you get your kicks well then what a bonus!

but where else can you get companionship perhaps some fun and critical help with your writing

no where.....

I originally joined because I wanted somewhere to post my stories. I indulged in a bit of dirty fun in the beginning, like a kid with a new toy BUT quickly found the community side of it, there are great people here! I see this site as a sort of adult FB, another social website, where there is a theme. I don't see Lush as a porn site at all, it is an erotic reading site with a great community!

It's a little bit of both for me. I came for the stories. I'm still here for the people...and I just believe in the site as a whole. It's come such a long way in just my time here, and I feel as if I'm a part of that. And being offered the opportunity to be a moderator has made me appreciate the hard work that goes into running a site like this even more. It's definitely a community to me. But at the same time, I'm not disillusioned. I rely strongly on my instincts and I take most everything with a grain of salt. There are people here that I'm friendly with. And there are people here that I trust and consider close friends...it's not a large number of people, but they're my friends nonetheless.

I definitely think that whatever your reason is for joining or not joining, there's something here for everyone.

A sexual freeing the mind community. People often say to me "I come on here to talk about things that I feel I cannot in my real life".

It really depends on what you are looking for. I originally came to read the stories and maybe write a couple. But I soon found the community side (chatrooms) and have meet some great people. I agree with Mrs_Rabbit that it is another social media website like facebook but with a underlying theme.

The site is what you want it to be. I read stories for almost a year before I joined. Since then I've made several friends that I correspond with. I'll keep them for as long as I'm able and enjoy sharing thoughts and ideas.

One will be in my life for as long as I am.

Some Day, we'll be in it together.

I've discovered that all of life is what each one makes of it.
I am always a gentleman.

I agree with those who say it is a bit of it all. Depending on the member (or even NON-member) LUSH is what they want it to be. It has porn, it has erotic stories, it has a fantasy element, it has a social network portion, etc. It is also why so many people have problems. They are running into others who don't use, or see, LUSH the same way THEY do.

This! Replace "post my" with read and its how I think of Lush.

I have made some incredible friends here. I have laughed with some, cried with some, shared very personal info with some, been drunk online with some, argued with some, fought with some, and yes I have cum with some too.

For me Lush is an escape from reality but it is also very real too!!

I'm here to meet others with similar interest and to practice my prose.
It's both porn and a community of like minds and it's great.

I came for the stories but have been finding the Forum good entertainment. Much of what is said here reminds me of my erotic and highly sexual teen years. I was obsessed with boys and sex and later boys, girls and sex.
I have matured a lot but the boys and girls have been replaced with men and women and sex.
I have written a couple of stories from both the female and male perspective as I feel I have lived and loved so many. I have 3 male FWB and we talk and chat a lot about what we do and what we have done before we met. The girls also have their history and its not hard to gain ideas for stories from listening to them. In fact many of the stories here can remind me of an earlier life.
I just really love the stories and people here. For me it's a community.
