Electric Shavers

Men, do you use an electric shaver for shaving? Why or why not?

Any brands/models to recommend? Any tips to share?

Thanks and enjoy!

Note: Women are free to collaborate too if they use an electric shaver for their legs/pubis.
I personally bought a Braun 320s-4 a few years ago for about $80. I did extensive research before buying a shaver, and this model was recommended by many reviewers. Essentially, it's considered a high-end model for a very cheap price.

The Series 3 from Braun also offers many other models, though they're all basically the same shaver with different accessories: water-resistant to use in the shower, recharging base, traveling case, etc. The one I bought is the basic model, which is considered the best bang for the buck:

I like how the head works, where there's a central blade that can cut longer hair. This shaver is also considered to be quite effective for men who have a coarse beard, though I can't really comment on that as my beard is rather light. It also comes with a trimmer at the back.

Of course, I haven't tested all that many shavers in my life, but this one definitely does the job for me. I can achieve a smoother skin with it than when shaving with a manual razor (unless I shave against the grain, which is not recommended for razor burns). I also use it to shave my pubis a few times per week.

I also use this product before shaving, Williams Lectric Shave, which makes the hair softer and stand up stiff to make shaving easier. It also let's your shaver glide easily for less friction and irritation:

One of the problems of wet shaving for a man is that when you kiss him his whiskers are much more prickly than those of a man who electric shaves.
No on electric. Always heard bad things. Fresh razor, lots of cream, and hot water does the trick. I can see the need for electric if one has a beard or mustache. Never ventured into using a single blade, but that would keep costs down.
Waterproof electric shaver, in the shower.
Now is that with Miss Scarlet or Mrs. White?

Haha, that made me laugh.
I used to trace my neckline with Gillette Sensor blades (I sport a light stubble and shave only my neck with my electric shaver).

I ordered these blades and this razor on Amazon and just received them yesterday.

They shave very well, maybe even better than the Gillette Sensor; they're actually made in the USA whereas Gillette blades are manufactured in China. That's a great thing, I'll save a lot of money in the long run:

The Gillette blades cost: $28.00 / 10 units = $2.80 / unit

These new blades cost: $8.65 / 50 units = $0.17 / unit

This doesn't include the shipping costs, but they still won't cost me more than $0.30 / unit.

I highly recommend them, check them out if you're interested.
My beard comes in pretty thick. I like 3 rotary head electric razors and use Electric Shave lotion and shave before I get in the shower. Once in the shower, I lather my face up and shave with a triple blade razor to get an even closer shave. With the hot steamy water going I can get a good shave.

If we're going out that night I'll go over my face again with the electric razor before heading out. But I won't use a blade on my face again because that will cause razor burn or something that looks a little like a rash.
When I was 17 I purchased A Gillette single blade double edge razor.( Like my Father used) It even had the comfort adjustment option. Cutting edge at the time. (pardon the pun ) It gave me A very smooth shave & I really liked it. Over the years from time to time I would try other razors, always went back to my favorite. I also tried various other electric razors, like Norelco & others, even the Remington shaves as close as A blade or your money back. Yea I got my money back.Every time I went back to my old stand by. Blades were A lot of baloney too All stainless steel blades are about the same. At present I'M using Wall greens brand shaves as good as A Wilkinson sword blade. Anyway about a year ago my old stand by broke 44 years old & it broke. Try getting that out of an electric razor. I didn't think I would be able to replace it. I checked some drug stores they didn't sell them anymore. So I did an internet search. Rick from Pawn Stars is promoting one similar to mine but W/O the comfort adjustment. About $20 plus shipping. not bad. The rest were ether high priced or used. Theres quite A few of them out there. Then by chance I found A guy in St. Petersburg Russia. He said he had A case of Brand New in the box Circa 1967 Razors. Only $15 plus shipping. Huh? Cheaper than Ricks. With the travel case like mine came with & the comfort adjustment too. OK I know it sounded too good to be true but I figured I'd take A chance. It took about 10 day's ( I didn't want to pay for express shipping) I was already gambling as it was. When it arrived I couldn't believe it, not only was it made as good as my old one. It was better. I have been using it for A year now & I couldn't be happier. If you can find his add on the net I highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed.

Note * This razor is meant for the head & face not recommended for more sensitive area's like legs or under arms etc.

I have had a mustache all my adult life and usually raise a beard come winter. I still have no use for an electric shaver. I do have a beard trimmer but the basic shaving is done with a razor. It's the only way I can get a close enough shave.
Gillette Mach 3 is perfect for me.. Electric shavers dont really give a smooth finish
I have used an electric shaver for many years now and find it gives as good a shave as a blade razor. And much more convenient, - no soap or cream to rub in, no standing before a mirror guiding a blade round all the nooks and crannies and risking a cut, now I sit on a chair and run the shaver over my face, - job done! My present shaver is a Philips triple head one, - three circular heads, which I find very good, and much quieter than the reciprocating straight head ones. Mind you, it is quite a while since I had one of those, they may be much quieter now.

PS. Nooks and crannies, - if anyone is going to mention wrinkles, - don't!
