I guess some kids lose their sense of humour when it comes to what is wrapped in pretty paper at Christmas time. A couple take it on the chin, but my god, if my kid ever told me they hated me or carried on like some of these rotten kids...insert bites tongue emoticon here

Those were really funny.

one - nothing funnier than playing practical jokes on young kids who still believe in Santa, who look on Christmas day as a day of magic and then recording it on camera and putting it on national tv - wonder how much they paid those parents for those vids?

two - if those kids reacted badly, at that age, it's time to take a good hard look in the mirror at what values the parents are teaching them, parents more interested in filming bad behavior than disciplining them, in parents who'd do something that mean spirited in the first place. those kids are going to grow up to make great parents, themselves, you just wait.

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

There is a lot of wisdom spoken here...even through her sarcasm!!

Merry Christmas to all my LUSH Friends...and especially to Sprite!!

I'll have to agree with Sprite here on this one.

I mean I get joking around on your kids a little. My step mum once got my brother a "Robot" and when he went to open it the box was empty, but before he could get upset they turned it on and it came rolling into the living-room.

I did however think the little girl with the peanut butter sandwich was cute. She clearly didn't like it but wasn't out right rude about it.

Well, I really had to bite my tongue on my original comment because A: Im not a parent, and B: Im not a parent. lol..but seriously, the mom who laughs when he kids tells her she sucks?? I mean, thats just not on. The camera should have been stopped and good old fashion ass whoopin should have been administered. Yes, I do strongly believe that there is nothing wrong with a kid copping a hand across the backside. Im sure most, if not all the members here grew up with the same for of punishment..kids of today just have it too easy sometimes and get away with far too much because the law has taken away the power to control their kids.

I find this video amusing. Personally.

That particular child was definitely out of line and should have been dealt with - which, for all we know, she may well have been afterwards.

A young child being a tad ungrateful when receiving a really, really, awful gift that they have clearly all been hyped up to think is amazing (ooo, early christmas present!) is hardly surprising - nor does it make them foul children.

'Whoopin' is lazy as far as I'm concerned. Sure, few kids that received such treatment as a child have come out as poorly functioning adult that cries about childhood 'abuse' - I'm not fighting that corner. I just believe that it is a simple means to an end. Namely used by people who don't wish to spend the extra few minutes talking appropriately to their child about their behaviour/don't know any different.

I'm not a parent at 20 (thankfully!), but I work as a nanny for 5 different families so I do feel as if I've earnt my right to put my pennies worth in on the whole child discipline subject. I work with children aged 18 months - 13 years... and often have four of them at one time (ouch!!).

Many of the children I work with behave appallingly around their parents. Hitting, throwing things, turning over tables, shouting, swearing and so on... do they do that with me? No. I don't permit it, so they don't do it. It would be illegal for me to lay a finger on one of those kids anyway...but I fail to see why I should ever want or need to? I can discipline them without so much as raising my voice and so, to save them a small amount of physical pain and/or humiliation, that's the way I will go ahead with if and when I have my own kids. I don't raise my voice....I still get an apology, the situation rectified (they clean up whatever they threw etc), a hug and a 'I love you really' from them.

But anyway, that's all veering off away from the point. Especially since this isn't the think tank so it shan't be taken notice of anyway!

My only (well, relevant one) point is that these kids are not horrible, spiteful, rude, obnoxious or similar just because they weren't thrilled with the nonsense they got. They were hyped up and lead to believe it would be something great...hardly surprising they were disappointed. I'd have been! I might not have been rude about it, or cried, but I've got 15 odd years on them. Kids at that age don't have the same level of humour as us adults, nor are they as well trained at receiving presents graciously.

It seems very harsh to be saying anything negative here!
The same GQP demanding we move on from January 6th, 2021 is still doing audits of the November 3rd, 2020 election.

Fair call Bambi. But to be honest, kids respond differently to people other than their parents because they dont know what to expect. I say something to my nephews, they are shit scared to argue. Kids get used to empty threats from mum and dad. I copped a good old fashion hiding one day, and I have to say, the thought of it happening again stopped and think twice in the future. And I turned out all right. I certainly dont have nightmares about it or suffer from any form of traumatic stress. And I was not referring to people beating their kids to a pulp. I certainly dont agree with that, but a slap on the ass certainly will gain their attention. No wonder kids have no respect these days. Thats just my opinion. I know Im not alone. And yeah, the joke is a little cruel in these videos, but at the end of the day, its basically spoilt brat behaviour.

1) I don't believe in using physical pain, ever, when there is an alternative. Especially one that works WELL. (especially when we must teach children not to hit or be physical with other children or adults - hypocritical much??!!!)

2) These children were hyped, it's completely unfair to say they're rude/spoilt/bratty/obnoxious when we have no idea at all.

Even the best behaved child will have their occasional bad moments.

If you disagree with the above two points then I think we'll have to agree to disagree.

I guess the fact that we have grown up in two very different generations is dividing our opinions. I remember a time when the cane was used at school. The general consensus among people my age and our parents is that the law has definitely taken away the powers of the adult in this country (and others Im sure), and the kids know it and play on it. Make no mistake. Anyway, this was not meant to be a debate about right and wrong when it comes to parenting. It was merely an observation that I thought that the kids reacted poorly, and Im not going to make an excuse for it considering the circumstances. So we will agree to disagree. We should stick to talking about photography more and this topic less..
