I read a book about those as a teen, called, "Subliminal Seduction". It was fascinating and has since been disproven, but it's still fun to catch them.

See? It's fun. I remember the word "sex" in the curls of Farrah Fawcett's hair, and the dirty outlines in the ice cubes in a liquor ad. I can also still hear Jimi Hendrix whisper "son of sam" in "Purple Haze".

In the last line of Touch Me, Jim Morrison sang "Stronger than Dirt" which was the Ajax jingle at the time.

In the last few seconds of "Strawberry Fields", you can hear Lennon say, "I buried Paul", but he claimed he said "strawberry jam".

Actually what he claimed he said was 'ice berry bars'

The song is Revolution #9 and when you play Ringo saying 'Number 9, number 9...' What you hear is 'Turn me on dead man"

OK, Brock, I knew it was something along those lines. Have you heard it? I still say it's him saying, "I buried Paul." Turn the sound way up when you hear the drums in the last seconds of the song. Spooky.

There is a really interesting Wikipedia entry on the subject of backmasking,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backmasking

Which includes an audio sample of the “Turn me on Dead man, ….” Phrase.
Creepy and worth a listen.

An interesting off shoot is the “Paul is Dead” Wiki page has a lot of “clues” about Paul being dead and replaced with “Billy Shears” winner of a Paul Mc look alike contest.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_is_dead

They also talk about “I’m so tired” a lot
Here is “I’m so tired” forward then backward on you tube, really weird.

Still ready for more? Here is a fun collection of backmasked goodies…
You’ll especially like the Pink Floyd Empty Spaces Message!

Ok, those audio snippets from the Beatles songs creep me out!!
I think I will stick to listening to their music on my ipod and forget the hidden messages....lol

I could understand why they talked about being tired all the time. They were very famous and young and got pushed from one thing to another. Tends to wear you out.

Now let's look at some print ads (click the pics). I remember these from the "Subliminal Seduction" book I read as a teen. One of the most controversial aspects of his book had to do with subliminal text and pics inside ice cubes. This Calvert ad shows it pretty easily in the bottom ice cube, bottom right corner. It has a big "e" in it, and is suspected of spelling "sex".

Another one is is in the Gibley ad. Not only can you see it spell "sex" vertically in the ice cubes, but take a look at the reflection under the bottle and cap. What do you see there? Doesn't it look like a man's legs and his penis?

Another fun one is this ad for Chivas. Look at the napking on the left side. It looks like the head of something, doesn't it?

I don't think there's a conspiracy with all this; I just think it's fun and fascinating. Do I think the advertising art departments were having some fun with this? Yes, I do. To read lots more about it, click the article from the book.

Kiss Me In The Rain - a microfiction about love and desire

A Rush Of Gold surviving the trek west during the Gold Rush required some clever thinking along the way, especially for newlyweds Andrew and Susanna.

people as well as companies have used suggestive selling forever. I think I heard somewhere that Musiak (sp?) was supposed to have suggestions as well that it was too low for the human ear to pick up but our sub brain heard it just fine. So later when we get a craving for say a Starbucks coffee the ad we heard while riding in the elevator was the reason for it.
