I like the fact that she was trying to say people don't approach her because they don't know she's single (as opposed to they're not attracted to her/she is the world's worst flirt)....and implying that if she had been wearing one they might have come up to her, potentially over some of her other friends. So, to conclude, wear this is you're the ugly one of the bunch and want to be somebody's second best....or if you can't flirt.
