I work with a guy who is from Texas and won't shut up about how awesome it is because it was once it's own country and there's some cob-webbed law still on the books that says they can secede.

The States have to get their money somewhere.
The point of the Resolutions affirming the 10th Amendment is that the BIG government is out of bounds in many areas. Creating mandates that the States have to fund, on issues that are better and Constitutionally determined at the State level.
It is also part of the effort to save our country from the financial attack we are under from the World Bank, Banking institutions, and the FED.
You will not hear about this on the main news channels because they are owned and controlled by the same big money interests.
It sounds insane until you study and understand the Constitution and the ramifications of what is being done. Then you begin to realize the gravity of the situation.

Shit and I thought Connecticut property taxes were nuts what the hell are they on drugs? A house like that if you can find one that cheap here would be maybe $3000.00 a year

Bikebum, at the risk of exposing myself as someone who knows nothing about tax revenue, I'm pretty sure that workers in Connecticut pay a hefty state income tax to make up the difference, whereas in TX and FL they don't, thus the much higher property tax rates.
Here in Nevada we don't pay state income taxes either, so I'm guessing the property taxes are higher than other states too, though I'm a lowly apartment dweller so I wouldn't know.

No it's not. It depends on your county. I still own a house there and still pay taxes on it and it's still the same. As a matter of fact they went down this year.
As for the sales tax it's at 6.5 because the county voted to raise it by .5 for schools.
