Linux on desktop? Anyone besides me?

I have been toying with going Linux on desktop for a year or so. Currently have Mint 22.1 Cinnamon running in VM to try things out and do some planning. Ultimate goal is to partition my laptop's SSD and dual boot Windows and Mint. Anyone else here using or considering using Linux on desktop? Just wondering if there's enough to consider starting a Group or something.

Main applications right now are LibreOffice for writing, spreadsheets, etc., Obsidian for note-taking, and GIMP for image manipulation. Which is largely the same suite of applications I run on WIndows right now, too.

I used to run Ubuntu Linux on desktops until a few years ago when I switched to an iMac. I was very pleased with Ubuntu with one exception: there was/is no Linux version of Visio. I never tried a dual boot configuration.

I recently installed Xubuntu on an old (2012) MacBook Air that is no longer supported by Apple MacOS updates. This was more of an experiment than a desire to revive the MacBook. That said, the installation was easy, and the OS and the few apps I’ve tried have so far been stable.

Absolutely Linux. Each distro has something to recommend it. And being Microsoft-free is a nice thing.

I renovated some old laptops and tablets with Fydeos on Lenovo laptop and e/OS on Samsung galaxy A6 first gen - old tablet . these are both android Oses - e/os is a degooled is - both have Linux foundations

Very happy with both of these - gave both computers new life
