Has to be rap or some upbeat pop music
Yoga chant, meditation sound effect types of music, to when I sing, anything that challenges me.
I run quite a bit, so I listen to a lot of upbeat, pop-type music...Robin Thicke, Justin Timberlake, Jessie J, Maroon 5 and Macklemore, to name a few recent favorites on my playlist!
Electric Light Orchestra --- I have it programmed in my own personal gym....
I just listen to the music I have on my iPod. I like to listen to alternative rock. I pick upbeat happy songs and band like Vampire Weekend, Passion Pit, The Black Keys, MGMT.
I love pandoras "work out" station. It has the best selection for intense work outs with songs that keep you motivated and pumped up! I listen to it from my computer while inside or my iPhone while running outside. Plus if I get tired with that station I can always change it easily.
I seem to be a rarity, but I really don't like listening to music when I am exercising. I like to focus on the training its self.
I love to walk. I do it at various paces. When I really go all out and walk as vigorously as I can, I like and ipod with fast, hard-hitting music.
I keep 3 ipods with different kinds of music on them for the different paces of walking I keep. Each is loaders with music with different tempos and textures that sort of mesh with what kind of walking I am doing.
when I lift weights heavy rock when I do my cardio alex m.o.r.p.h
The only exercise where I listen to music is lifting and then it is Five Finger Death Punch, Rammstein, Disturbed, Rage Against the Machine, 3 different versions of Kick out the Jams, and if I'm training for a national record - "I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide" by ZZ Top. <grin>
I usually listen to techno when I go running or cycling solo. Other sports I never listen to music.
On my bike I listen to the OST cd of Berlin Calling by Paul Kalkbrenner.
When biking I listen to any other Techno/minimal/deephouse music. It helps you keep an even speed.
I have a very varied playlist... but Rudimental and Calvin Harris are faves... Old school Crazytown is a regular feature too at the moment.
For Cardio/Running I generally don't listen to anything. With music, I tend to get lazy and let the intensity of the music dictate the workout. Without music, I find I am more in control of my breathing and pace.
As for strength training, a lot of post-rock (Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, Do Make Say Think, godspeed you! black emperor)
Tonight's playlist was a bit of Calvin Harris, Rudimental and Far East movement.
My favorite band to workout to is Motley Crue. But I also love jogging to ska and punk.
Rock, it is where I live. Stones, The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Spoon...
Anything with a quick beat and something different everyday.
cumbia, reggaeton, salsa, samba, etc for zumba or hard rock and fast pop songs that I love when I run
I like dance music for running though. It helps with the rhythm.

good beat. something fast, fun. like dance stuff or happy stuff. no ballads
last band I listened to was The Jimi Hendrix Experience
I listen to a lot of different stuff. If it has a good beat then I'm all good. I have some inspirational songs that always boost my spirit as well. Right now I'm listening to a couple Eminem songs, Rhiana has some good ones... ect.
