Beware of scammers and sextortionists and how to spot them

Hi Lovely Lushers,

Whilst the majority of us Lushers are here to mingle with like (and filthy) minded people, there are those amongst us that are very dishonest folk, who are not what they seem to be, and are out to get us and our hard earned cash..... Read on.

Tell tail signs of a scammer:

Their profile is very minimalist and lacking in pictures and/or description of themselves. Often the English doesn't contain good grammar either.

Right clicking on the profile picture gives you the option to Google search the image on the internet and if there are lots of hits then you can assume it's been grabbed.

I know we don't always want our own image on our profile as AI can do wonders with it now so pick or take a picture that won't come back to you.

Once the scammer hooks onto you they will quickly want you to chat via a different app. This is their chance to grab some of your personal details.

They will almost immediately ask for a photo of you and ask where you live.

If you just give them a random city then as if by miracle they will also happen to be in the same country and possibly not far away from you either.

They will offer to meet up and come to your house and once you give them the address all shit will happen.

They will have your picture and now your address.... You can now see you've just given them the means to blackmail you.

However, if you ask them for their address then you won't get it because they don't live where they say they are.

I had one scammer who thought that Exeter was only a one hour drive to Birmingham (it's over 4 btw) and she was willing to come to me if I paid for "the gas". It's called petrol in the UK. And of course I would have to give her my address.

I have used online resources to track several of these scammers and they seem to originate from Nigeria, India or Pakistan.

So lovely people. Please don't be stupid. Don't give out your personal details. Stay safe.

And guys remember... When your dick gets hard, your brain gets soft.

I've been stringing four of them along on Trillian for a couple of weeks now.

I hope you haven't given any personal information to them.

Have you seen the pattern of how they operate.... Move to a different chat platform, send a picture, where do you live, send me money..... Don't use btw, it's easier for them to grab your information.

Send a false picture, false location and never any money.

I used Grabify to track their location, Nigeria, India and Pakistan pop up quite often.

I think we need a place where us Lushers can 'name and shame' these scammers to warn others.

Had no idea about this. Actually new on here and I have just one picture of myself but really thanks for this. Your write-up and message have really helped me. I'll upload more pictures of myself to avoid being seen as one of them. Plus the "no real info should be shared" is good. Thank you very much. Will follow you for more hints, stories etc.

Open the message where the photos were sent. Click or tap on the side of the photo to highlight it. Click or tap on Delete that will appear below the photo in the message.

That's why the scammers want to get you off Lush and chat elsewhere. It may be harder to get back that photo of yourself on a different chat site.
