Are you uploading the image directly from your computer? If you are make sure it's a .jpg, .gif, or .png...otherwise it won't work.
If you're using an image from a website, make sure the url ends in .jpg, .gif, or .png.

The best way to go would be to save the image to your computer, upload it as a hidden image in your Lush gallery, and right click and copy the url from there. That way you always have it...just in case whatever domain you got the image from goes stagnant or something. Or if it's an original image, if it somehow gets deleted from your computer, you'll still have it saved here.

Go to Account > Settings > Image Gallery
Click on 'Choose file' and select it, untick 'resize image to fit' and tick 'Do not show this image in my gallery'
Click 'Upload image' and when it is done, you will find it on the 'Hidden' tab on the right hand side.
Click on the image you just uploaded, copy the URL from the address bar at the top and then paste that into the 'Forum Signature' window between [img] tags.
(The last 'img' tag should have a forward slash just before the 'i')
