Image uploads and Gallery

It seems there is a problem again. I have uploads more than 10 hours old. The Gallery images have not changed in more than 8.

We had a few issues with media in general yesterday as a result of a change on Wednesday afternoon. They are being addressed.

edit - Theres a huge backlog in the media processing queue hence the delay in media appearing on your profile.

Thank you John. Quiet the flood this morning. I'm used to the occasional upload queue, but the static Gallery page seemed unusual.

To share there were circa 1700 media items in the queue at 9am UK time today and thats because there were some huge videos in the queue; apparently of circa 1GB... amazing! I understand as of next week media processing should be quicker

1GB!!! Good lord -- I get worried if my images go over 500K. Is there a video chatroom or something for files that big?

When I do go into the Gallery, I always turn off the Video option, but that only stops about half from appearing, so it's still a slow plod trying to find something.

As I understand it the huge videos are because members have filmed with lights off and have trouble 'connecting' for want of a better word.😎

It looks like Sunday can now be added to the Don't Bother, Just Wait List along with Tuesday and Thursday. The Gallery has managed to add just 13 new images in the last 8 hours. I'm going to have to re-title my "On My Walk Today" album to "On My Walk Whenever Lush Gets To It."

I have reported that and certainly it would appear media items are slow to upload and the gallery is as you say updating very slowly (1 addition in 3 hours).

Are image now only being bulk uploaded once a day? For the last week it has averaged 6+ hours a day from input to appearance. Very few images are added to the Gallery the whole time. When pics finally do arrive there, it's in 100+ floods with many duplicates. As mentioned before, it makes illustrating a forum comment or PM pretty pointless. I know several users that posted regularly have simply given up. 😐

How many pics are you uploading at once? Cause recently, I uploaded 30pics to three separate test folders and w/in the hr, images uploaded.

I know you upload and babysit the gallery(keep an eye for your images) to remove them from the public eye.

And not gonna lie, but uploaded said image to lush and being logged out, it looks like a square instead of linking said image from elsewhere and there's no waiting for image to upload.

Users don't understand, upload once and wait for pics to process but get antsy and re-upload over and over again.

Seldom more than 10 images per day. Right now, I'm waiting for 6 I uploaded around 9:30 am.

I don't understand the second part about a square. On my Media page's open album? No one has ever mentioned not being able to see an image whether I am logged in or not. Except for the Photography Group, I very seldom add images to any post and never use the chat rooms, so an external storage/link approach sort of defeats the whole point of having media albums for people to see.

I only visit the Gallery to see if new images are being uploaded or if everything is stuck, as has been the usual these days. I remove my images from Gallery view on my own Media page after they finally show up.

To add: my images are all cropped and sized to a .75/1 or 1/1 ratio and don't exceed 500 kb.

I've never seen that behavior on any page. Whether logged in or not, people's images remain the same size. Why in the world would the pages be coded to do otherwise?

But this is about images taking hours and hours and hours to upload when it should take minutes at the most. And it keeps getting worse, not better.

And yes, I'm still waiting, nearing 8 hours.

Idk, booboogirl, but I know that a Mod will know after they ask developers about image size.

Hooray! 11 1/2 hours later my images are up. Now I can go remove them all from the Gallery.

(This is why i suggested uploading elsewhere and posting on lush so you wouldn't have to wait for images to process but I understand. I'm questioning if I understand but I do understand my own understanding. Fuck lol)

I can no longer save to my media file because I have exceeded the newly imposed limit.

You state: This does not affect media that is added using the 'External' option to messages, forum threads, group posts, etc. since they are not saved in your media center.

I have tried to copy image addresses from external sites and post them, but inevitably they do not post or disappear within 24 hours. That's why I gave up this method and put anything I wished to share in the groups or post on friends' walls in my media folder.

Since I can't upgrade (and there was no option given to purchase additional storage, not to mention tossing out over 10,000 photos to get back under the new limit, just wasn't worth the effort), I purchased another Platinum account and reinstated my original Lush name Hubby77.

Personally, I downsize any large photos before I post them to 1200 pixels wide. This reduces the data required to store the image, and they fill out the group and wall posts nicely.

Here is a thought. Put limits on video size and limit gifs to 10 MB. I would also suggest, instead of limiting media by the number of items I.E. 250, 1000, 10,000, using data limits because there is a huge difference in storage between 10,000 photos and 10,000 videos!

Free members can have a maximum of 12 images. And yes, you can add and delete your pictures at will. Details here. Hope that helps.

Given that the images one posts in the forums, and perhaps groups too, are automatically placed in one's album, people might be tempted to delete those, leaving forums (and groups) broken.
