I'm new here and before I start adding people as Friends, I'd like to know if I can remove them from my Friendlist if they do something innappropriate?

Yes, you can always delete them from your list if needed..
For future reference:
If you want to delete a friend, click on their name and a drop box will appear, select Remove Friend and they will be deleted from your list

Yup, just go to account > Friends > hover your mouse over a friend's name and a box comes up with some options. From there you have the option to either block (which keeps them as friends, but they can't comment on stories or see you, except in common areas like the forums or chat rooms. They can still communicate via black box and inbox, I think) or delete. If you don't want them to communicate again, you can delete and block.
