The order in which my friends appear, when I select the "friends" option under the profile pulldown, changes from instance to instance.
What determines the order in which they appear? I know it's unrelated to the order in which they appear in my own profile, because I set that myself.

The order in which you manage them under the friends option is how they will appear on your profile under friends and also how they are ordered when you click on friends in the main header .. sorry I am a little confused .. instance to instance?
Never mind. I just realized that the list that appears if you select "Friends" from the menu bar pulldown (the gear icon) puts any friends who are online at the time at the top, with the "ONLINE" ones first and the "AWAY" ones next. The remainder of the list appears to be the basic list in the order that they appear in the profile itself.
Is this analysis correct?
Edit: "instance to instance" meant "each time I select 'Friends' from the menu pulldown"
