Poems automatically centered

I submitted a poem and when I pressed the preview button, I noticed that my poem was centered. I clicked edit and tried to left align it several times, but it didn't work so I assumed that this site usually had it's poems centered and sent in my poem.

It was removed and the reason was that the "structure" was not correct. I contacted the person who sent me the message but after a couple hours with no reply, I edited my poem by adding a few words that I had missed the first time around. I tried unsuccessfully to left align it and resubmitted it and it was approved a bit later.

The person who approved told me that the first removal might have been because it was centered and then said that they wouldn't remove but couldn't assure me that someone else wouldn't remove it later. They have fixed the alignment and I am grateful but is there a way to stop this from happening in the future when alignment seems like such a trifle issue to remove a story over?

A few users have mentioned this in the past and it is likely due to the copying of some invisible formatting from Microsoft Word into the Lush story screen.

Workaround:

1 - Copy and paste the whole poem from Word into Notepad (TextEdit for Mac users).

2 - Left align the text and then copy and paste it into Lush using Ctrl + Shift + V (NOT Ctrl+V) and it should be fine.

(Using the Shift button as well turns this into a paste function that strips out all text formatting).

Hope this helps smile

The other person mentioned that to me, but I did not copy and paste my poem from a different program, I typed it directly into the submissions box. Does this mean I shouldn't type directly into the submissions box?

Not at all.
There is no reason for the formatting to do anything other than what you set it in the Lush story screen.
Did you highlight all of the text before hitting the left-align button?

Yes I did, I highlighted all of it manually the first time, then tried ctrl + a the second time and then manually the third time. Interestingly, I just sent a story and it came out in the alignment that I intended
Actually, the problem is that you can't have a poem centered past a certain amount of lines...it may be centered for the first 12 lines or so...after that, it reverts to left justified, or whatever it wants...

This has been an ongoing problem here and the blue site for as long as I can recall...it has nothing to do with where the poem was copied from...

My best advice...skip trying to get a poem centered...it just don't work...

I'm a mod over on the blue site...and we have endless poems over there that end up looking like this...or worse...and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it, no matter how much time you put into it...take my word on this one...

The problem is I was not trying to center my poem, I was trying to uncenter it. When I typed it in and clicked preview, the entire thing automatically centered itself and would not go back no matter what I did to it.
