Removing Followers

I understand how to remove/block friends. However there is followers who is following my profile and stories. I do not get the same drop down box when I point my mouse over their name. How can I clean up followers from my profile?
The only way I know how to do something like what you want is:
a) block the person - they will not show on your "who's following you" list, (and they will obviously not be able to contact you or vote/comment on any story you publish)
but
b) they will still show on their list of who they are following, your name

They would still be able to see from the front page when you posted a story? Probably from your profile page too, even if they're blocked?
