While checking the profile of someone I did not know I noticed that no Sex (Gender) was shown on the profile. This is new to me, so I checked the settings area. I found that I am listed as Male which is what I chose upon joining Lush. But the field is not changeable now. This got me to wondering. Has there been some kind of change to keep up with the world we live in? Is one able to simply not list one's Sex (Gender) if one wishes? And if one has a sex/gender modification how would one change their sex/gender here in the profile area?
i've often wondered this as well. i've seen a number of profiles where trans members have felt the need to explain why their selected gender doesn't match their avatar in their bio. if they had the ability to select transwoman/man, that could be eliminated. i also think fluid would be a welcome addition.

Say. Her. Name.

Can you please PM me with the name of that member.

Thank you.

Unless there has been a change there have only ever been two options for gender and a member cannot change that but Admin can.

Edit - I have just checked the sign-up process and it is mandatory to state either male or female as gender. Furthermore there is a note stating that the gender cannot be subsequently changed (accepting the above).

While the sex is fixed to male/female, fluid, along with other options, are available under the orientation drop down. Relocating the transsexual option to sex may be a better choice.

i understand what you're saying, but being fluid in sexuality doesn't translate to being fluid in gender. also, a transsexual and a transgender person aren't the same. a transsexual dresses as the opposite sex for sexual purposes. a transgender person is someone who didn't identify with the gender they were born with.

ETA: my apologies, trinityx. i confused the definition of transsexual with transvestite. you are ABSOLUTELY correct in what you stated regarding transsexuals.

Say. Her. Name.

I also think the sex/gender box needs to be changed, to be honest. Trans, non-binary, gender fluid, are genders, not orientations. It should also be changeable for trans people who want to accurately reflect their status. I suspect that the inability to change is related to the penchant of people to misstate their gender (specifically guys pretending to be ladies) but that shouldn't be allowed to penalize our trans and non-binary members.
really think we need to change it to represent the world, and yeah, M or F just doesn't cut it anymore.

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

I would be happy to PM you John. I will simply try to backtrack and see what I was doing and who I might have been "profiling". It was probably a stranger in the chat rooms. I will get back to you.
