I'm reliably informed that the trending calculation has been tweaked. See how it fares now, please.

The Micro banner looks pretty much the same. Three from the last few weeks and the rest going back in time to 2020. A number of resents pieces with many likes/comments/reads are nowhere to be seen.
We'll have to give it while, I guess.

Yes, it may take a little while for newer stories to bubble up and replace what's there, so please keep an eye on it and if it still feels wonky, then raise an issue. Thank you.

Over one million views on my stories can't be wrong, so please dive in and browse my 150 stories:

* 33 Editor's Picks, 85 Recommended Reads.
* 17 competition podium places, 12 other times in the top ten.
* 23 collaborations.
* A whole heap of often filthy, tense, hot sex.

It's been a few days and it still makes no real sense.

"Will" by ladyblue69 from 19 Oct 2020 has been the leader for days. It has no new likes or comments, and only two new reads in that time. There are just two recent offerings on the banner, though a number in the story list deserve to be. Everything else is history and from what I can tell, just random picks out of the vast hat. Most have been up there for a week or two.
If this is all it's going to be, then I'd vote to get rid of it entirely. It's doing little to encourage the old, and even less to bolster the new.

Agreed; it may be slightly less wonky, but it still seems wonky. The stories that were dominating the Microfiction trending list last month have finally moved along, but they were replaced by a new crop of seemingly random old stories; that question mark cover image (Will) and that witch hat with the brooch cover image (Sidesaddle) have been there for the past couple of weeks.

In the other two categories I track obsessively, Watersports has had a minor shuffling of its trending stories, with a few coming and going, but Historical has had the same top five or six for a long time, with some recent movement at the end of the list. Oh hey, I took notes on Historical exactly a month ago. The current #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 on November 11 were #1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10 on October 11... with absolutely no increases in any of their scores or comments. One of my Historical stories received a like and a comment a few days ago and popped up at #10 for a day or two before disappearing again. Nobody's liked any of my Watersports stories lately, so I can't say what's happening there. 😅

I skipped December 11, but today is January 11th (oops, 12th) and I figured I'd check in again. Most of the stories in the Microfiction Trending Stories banner have dropped off since November, but that witch hat with the brooch has stubbornly survived.

In the Historical category, the stories currently in positions #1, 2, 3, 4 were in positions #2, 3, 4, 6 in November and positions #3, 4, 5, 10 in October... with no additional Likes/Favorites/Comments. (I also recognize the story lurking in spot #5 but don't have it listed in my notes.) So the old #1 finally disappeared, but there is still a bloc of four or five oldies that are keeping any stories with recent action (ahem, mine) in positions #6-10.

Honestly, it is of so little value, I've given up looking at it.

Brookell's micro has now floated around the first three spots on the list for almost a month. In that time, it's garnered about twenty new reads, but the likes and comments date back to October 2020 when it was originally posted.
This is nothing against her; she has all my love. It's the site mechanics that are fully broke.
