Unhappy with the publishing delay

Hello everyone,

I have to admit I’m pretty frustrated with the long publication delays here and on other platforms.

As authors, we pour our time, creativity, and passion into our stories—offering them for free—only to face delays of 10 days or more before they’re published.

By the time a story finally goes live, many readers have moved on or lost interest, assuming the author has stopped writing altogether. It’s discouraging for writers who work hard to keep their audience engaged.

In my humble opinion, the verification and approval process needs to be faster. It would benefit both authors and readers who are eager for fresh content.

Thank you for understanding.

There are a limited number of moderators and so many stories, that's why it takes time.

And they are volunteers who give of their own time and don't always have that much time to give. It's not like they are committed for x number of hours or x number of stories per day. They do what they can, when they can. If someone is on vacation or dealing with family stuff, that means less mods until they are back in action.

Please don't speak for "authors". You are speaking for yourself and maybe a few others here. Many of us have patience and express our appreciation for the hard work done by the moderators. In fact, I would say more of us do that than complain about moderation times. As John points out, you can buy a membership which (normally, recent situation is unusual) moves you up the queue. I'm Platinum and even with the current backlog, my latest story passed in 3 days, which is quite fine for me. Part 2 is queued and I am fully expect that or more for it and, hey, I'm chill. I can use the time to move on to other projects.

And, as always, thanks to the mods for the good work. You keep this site ticking along.

It takes time to review these stories. We mods read each and every one, and we are all volunteers. If authors wish for the process to move faster, they should make sure of two things:

1. Nothing in their story goes against the site's Acceptable Use Policy (there's a link to it every time you create a new story).

2. Their story is formatted correctly and mostly free of spelling and grammatical errors. We understand that errors happen, but when a story is full of them, we have to take the time to return it and explain why we are doing so. Then, when the story is resubmitted (hopefully with revisions made), we have to review the story again. That is a time-consuming process.

To give you an idea of what can happen, in my modding days I was once confronted with something like a thousand words all in one big paragraph (including dialogue) that burned through the AUP rules like a lightsaber through a blast door (Even itemizing the offenses I saw could get me banned). And reading stuff like that takes it's toll. "Makes your eyes bleed," may be metaphorical, but it sums up the sensation nicely.

Have you read this forum thread also in this section:

https://www.lushstories.com/forum/lush-help-desk/story-verification-times-2

If you do you will also glean that members with a gold or platinum subscription get priority (accepting the current situation as explained in the aforementioned forum thread).

This has already been addressed in another thread, quoted here.
