Given that I am close to retiring, slug it out. Not going to do a major change like that when my working life is ending. Or is retiring a "career change" so falls under the first?

tough one. I mean if I tell them to pursue the other path, that goes into an alternate reality so there is no gaurantee that it will change my present. depending on the time travel headcanon you go with.

Legally change your name to that of the opposite sex on a dare. or change your gender marker on all your legal documents because someone took a bet that you wouldn't do it and you want to prove them wrong for the principle of it?

Neither. Either would be disrespectful to the friends I have who legitimately need to change names and genders. Doing it for a frivolous reason just makes it harder for them to argue for the importance of it for them.

Put up Christmas decorations now that Halloween is over or wait until December?
