Today, the 6th of January is often referred to as little Christmas , in Ireland it is referred to as Nollaig na mBán. This means Women's Christmas and is a traditional day where the women have the day off from usual household chores and celebrate womanhood and meet to chat and have some fun together. It is a day of thanks to reflect the work that is traditionally put in by women to help their families celebrate Christmas.

Though husbands are encouraged to take over all duties that day I'm not sure that happens much!
In my case I'm going to dinner this evening with my best friend for dinner drinks and dancing , I can already feel the hangover!

So happy Nollaig na mBán to all the women here
We really are amazing ?

( Phonetically it's pronounced nullig nah mawn )
Happy little Christmas Wild! Learn something new everyday here X enjoy your evening off ?
This is a fabulous concept yet majorly flawed also. Most of my friends are single or flat share with others, they're going to feel so left out if this becomes the latest trend!
Does this mean i get to drink? biggrin

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

Is there a time when you don't?

Happy Little Christmas!!

Don't forget to sat 'Hi'

In the Netherlands today it's Drie Koningen (Three Kings) where kids dress up like the wise men from the East, knock on people's doors and sing songs for treats. Or at least they used to. It's not so common anymore. Not where I live anyway.

Easy fix, a massive blanket to hide the mess and a take away (it will still be there tomorrow, right?) or even better a hotel with room service ?

Luckily it's been adapted over times so it incorporates all women. Celebrating all their accomplishments and achievements in public and everyday life . So no fear for those single gals, eat drink and be merry !

That's a pity , traditions get lost in modern times
Happy Nollaig na mBán though!

The tradition of Dreikönige, the German version of Three Kings, is the official end of the Christmas period here, and is still very much alive in this part of Germany. Every year groups of kids, mostly altar boys and girls, dressed up as the three wise men go from door to door to sing and collect sweets and money, the latter usually for a cause. They always leave a written blessing behind, either on a note, that people stick above their door, or chalked on the wall next to the door.

If you see C+M+B (Christus mansionem benedicat) together with a year near a German housdoor, you know they've been there.

Happy Nollaig na mBán!

A little kindness can be so valuable, yet costs almost nothing

In many countries being gay is a crime, and even in modern societies, politicians try to legalise discrimination. Your voice can make a difference. Have a look at All Out to find out how.

Hey... pssst.... that's an l (as in luscious) at the end of my name, not an i

Yes, you are. What a cool idea, celebrating all that womanhood does, particularly this time of year! Enjoy yourself. Even the part about pre-experiencing your hangover sounds like fun.

And it's worth pointing out that there are lots of single Dads putting in a ton of work for their families. Where's our whimsical, oddly spelled, Irish holiday?
Happy Nollaig na mBán. It looks like you're having a good time smile
