Theodore Roosevelt "Hound Dog" Taylor: April 12, 1915 - December 17, 1975

Taylor was born in Natchez, Mississippi in 1915 (although some sources say 1917). He originally played piano but began playing guitar when he was 20 and moved to Chicago in 1942.

He became a full-time musician around 1957 but remained unknown outside of the Chicago area where he played small clubs in the black neighborhoods and also at the open-air Maxwell Street Market. He was known for his electrified slide guitar playing, his cheap Japanese guitars, and his raucous boogie beats. He was also famed among guitar players for having six fingers on his left hand.

I just added a juxtaposition sequence to my vids following your blues theme where I have put up original blues performances and form the most part 1960s covers by rock bands paying homage.

Thanks for those videos & the little known trivia (at least on my part) about that sixth digit. I'm really into the blues & a multitude of blues artists came from Mississippi. Thus "Mississippi Delta Blues". And just like "Hound Dog" they found their way North to a city called Chicago and started a whole new breed of the blues. Diversity of this Genre is what makes The Blues what it is today. I never get "the blues" while listening to the Blues.
