I adore poetry, and have been doing a lot of reading of it here at Lush in this lovely nook, and thought it time to post something of mine.

Simple Strength

i stand before you now
Not just as me
But as all women who have
Have ever roamed the this place
This place, we call home.

i begged you not
i begged you to
Come beg for my forgiveness
Unsure if I’ll even give it to you

Your words unspoken
Yet your hand so loud
i pick myself up from the ground
worthless i am to darken your sight

Enough is enough!
I am through with cowering
I am through with thoughts
I am through with terror
Enough is enough!
I am through with you!!

Up
up off the ground
standing tall, eye narrowed, so cold
I dust myself off
To show you to the door

I have the courage of one
I have the strength of many
The weight of my world
Beats within my breast
I am a girl, I am a woman
No-
I stand tall just simply as

Me.
Living life and enjoying life are two different things... just need to figure out how to do both at the same time to live it right!

That's really good. You should add that to the Love Poems category, if you haven't already.

The 4th verse is my fave. In the 5th verse; I like the rhyming of narrowed and cold. The second to last line is just- brill!

No, I do not have any Maya Angelou in my book collection! I just write what pours through my fingers without thinking too much about it. What is; is what is. No more nor no less.
