My latest story, The French Guest, tells the story of a lonely widower who rediscovers love, lust, and joy with a beautiful French student who lives with his daughter.

Lush comp-winning author Verbal writes of it, "You take the time to tell it, letting us get to know the characters, letting them get to know each other, and we trust that the writer is gonna keep things believable, emotionally and sexually."

It's a really good story. I can't believe you had to pull it out of the trash before we could read it! Have faith in your skills!

I wish it was a lack of faith in my skills. I just got a hate on for it there for a bit. I am likely wrestling with depression a bit these days and that's probably more to blame than anything.
In the story, Vincent and Eloise allude to a song. This is the one, "Sing in the Sunshine", originally written and recorded by Kiwi-Canadian (yay for my country and Laura's!) Gale Garnett and covered a number of times since.

And the opening graveside scene is one that's been dancing around in my head in various forms for years. This song is always the soundtrack for it. It is the song that really introduced me to the voice of Justin Hayward of the Moody Blues, leading to a lifelong love of that band.

"My life will be forever autumn, cause you're not here," really captures the sense of grief, does it not?
I haven't been around much over the holidays but I appreciate all the feedback I've received on The French Guest. I loved the story as I wrote it and I'm glad that so many do as well.

It's a truly lovely story, Scott. So glad it's getting the wide and appreciative audience it deserves. smile
