Hello fellow erotic story readers and authors!

We need advice on how to reach more LUSH readers...

Thanks,
V&S
Comment on other Lushies' stories. Not just "nice story" but something with a bit of detail. That helps get their attention.

Use the Self-Promotion forum. Start a thread where you highlight and promote stories.

Use social media. Tweet about your stories, post them on FB, and so on (assuming you can, I cannot for discretion issues). If you have a blog off-Lush, use it.

Get involved in social and game threads and put links to your latest (or another story you want to boost) in your sig (I see you don't have one). Rump's is a good place to post about your latest while drinking some of his virtual booze.

Enter comps. I find my comp entries get more comments and sometimes more views.

There's a few that I have used or heard of. I am sure other folks can add to it.
my advice, make yourself more visible in the forums and make friends - people tend to read people they know, go to stories they enjoy. as you write more, as more people read you, it'll be like a snowball doing down hill, you'll get more readers each time, as long as you keep the quality up. also, thank everyone who leaves a comment - it's always appreciated and makes it more likely that they'll continue.

read other people's stories, too, and leave comments - there's a bit of a quid pro quo thing going, where writers will read folks who read them, so read other stories, and read stories by people who leave comments.

AND enter the comps. all of them. a lot of writers make it a rule to read all the comp entries. also, if you hit top 10 on the list you'll get a lot of attention that way, too.

hope that helps. smile

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

You are writing in a niche with the series/chapters thing. That by itself is going to limit you audience a bit, I think.

I'm just another reader on the internet, but I don't pursue story series with multiple chapters. Other people eat that stuff up and can't wait for the next chapter to drop.

You might branch out & try your hand at other genres and categories. Hell, if all else fails, label some of your stories as . That always draws eyeballs. Just make sure there's some inside the story, so your audience doesn't feel click-baited and down vote you for it.
The same GQP demanding we move on from January 6th, 2021 is still doing audits of the November 3rd, 2020 election.
Get creative and market yourself and your storiex. And like WMM mentioned above, branch out with some stand alone stories in different Lush genres. Mot of all, have fun writing and doing it.

That is an interesting piece of feedback. I tend to write in chapters because my stories tend to be very long. I think I will combine my next story, Making Music Cum Alive from my time as a DJ, into a big story with maybe one "continued". Would that work for you?

I hope you will visit one of my stories like A Wedding Slow Dance, Take Me, Take Me NOW! or my most recent series Finding Lynn Finding Lynn.

Keep in mind, though, that there is a 10,000 word limit and that some people prefer shorter stories. I am getting into the habit of looking for a break point if I get much over 6000 words.

It's a conundrum, to be sure. My one real series is funny. Some chapters are well-read, some are not. Most of them do stand fairly well on their own save the last one that references a lot of what has gone before, so I guess people read the ones that interest them and move on rather than following the links.

Have you linked your chapters using the new series functionality Gav added? That at least makes it easy for people to see what belongs in what series.
You're writing a long series, and no matter where you post, that comes with diminishing returns. It typically results in higher scores the longer the story goes on, because anyone who's no longer interested drops out, leaving you with a core of fans who will tend to vote with high marks. Lush isn't exactly a haven for long-form story readers, so that limits you a little as well.

The #1 way to attract new readers is always to keep producing new work. That applies to here, any other story site, and even the marketplace. The more your name is out there in new release lists, the more people are going to find you.

If this series is your passion, keep running with it. That's especially true if you're working toward a conclusion. I haven't read the stories, but if you need to read part 2 to understand what's happening in 3, as opposed to a group of stories that share characters/settings but are self-contained stories, then you want to finish that arc. Some people do enjoy never-ending stories, but many will fall away if you don't give them a conclusion.

And then as soon as you wrap up everything in a pretty little bow, you'll be deluged with comments asking for more. LOL

If you do have any other plot bunnies hopping around in your head, you might want to let them out of the hutch and see where they go. More work = more eyes, and you might just discover that plot bunny hops over into a category that has a large readership you weren't aware of. Most readers tend to have particular tastes, and won't necessarily follow you from category to category, but you'll always pick up a few who enjoy your work enough that they'll give something that's not usually on their radar a chance because you wrote it.

Building a readership base is a slow, steady process. Very few people break out and become superstars overnight. Nothing wrong with the suggestions to read, comment, and otherwise network with others on the site either.
