um good question although I do wonder if it has some degree of the romantic notion of meeting someone from another land, I mean what kind of girls do Thai guys really like? Also as a side-note many Asian parents (at least ones in the US) put huge emphasis that their kids must marry someone from Asia, but who knows really personally I'm quite an oriental guy myself and don't notice anything too special from the other countries.
