This is something... another story site does. They also collect all the entries and hide them until a set release date. For example, the accept entries from September 1-September 30, then release all those stories on October 1, with the author's screen name hidden for a two week period. Now, the catch is that only the paying members can vote. The winners (the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd) are announced and as far as I know it's solely chosen by the membership.

If anyone is interesting in what site I'm referring to... PM me.

As for how Lush does their comps... I think it's fair and I have never envied the judges who have to pick the winning stories. I can only imagine what kind of great stories we'll see with this comp.
