I've greatly enjoyed the stories in the competition so far, they're well written and pretty darn good. My question is that it seems weighted for those with large followings. Newer members don't seem to have the notariety to have the voters and comments. Now, I know my story isn't good enough for much but the experience has been a great learning one. Would it make sense to have all who enter comment/vote on all other entries?

I've tried to read, vote and comment on all the other entries, but it's quite a commitment, even with flash fiction. I still have a few to go!
Just as an aside: with any comp, I don't like to read the other entries until mine has been submitted. It's just a superstition I guess, but also stops me getting put off if someone else has had a similar idea to mine.

I'd read 3 or 4 before I decided to enter a story. About the same time Darkside suggested that I enter a story. I think I've read and commented on every story so far. Many have returned the favor and I've noticed that several of my other stories have had more views, votes and comments. I never new what the judging system was and I should've do my due diligence about that, so my bad. For me it's a respect thing. If a writer is willing to put their work out there, exposed to the winds and currents of others, that's a big thing. Then to write a full story in 1000 words is even tougher. I feel each participant deserves my vote and comment. A good writer is also a good reader.

What Ping wrote is spot on. I won't bother to add to it. There are lots of different types of people here. Those that never reply to a comment post, perhaps they never bother to look once the story is up. Those that never read others stories or comment on them. Those that score but don't comment and those that comment but don't score.
I have taken the viewpoint that if someone comments on my stories i will always reply. Sometimes that has led to conversations. And they, in turn, have led to friendships.
I have learnt a lot from other authors. How they write, what they say and how to be emotional. Theses facets don't always appear in my stories but I learn from them.
In a competition I will always read and score those that have read and scored mine. That is just respect. I do try and read other stories as well but it depends on time and length of stories. I still have a few to go in this competition, but I am hoping to get through all of them and comment and score.
I find it amusing that different people read and comment on different authors. Why don't they read everyone's? I have 424 followers apparently, yet I struggle to get high votes.
A big factor is the throughput of stories. They are being published faster and faster and hence spends less time on the main board. That's a fact of life. Nothing can be done about it.
That's down to the popularity of the site. Nothing to do with notoriety.
I used to be a pervert. In here, I'm normal!

I'm trying to catch on to this contest. I hope I'm getting closer to the idea.
Definitely not in, but I'm enjoying reading the entries. Haven't hit many yet but I hope to find some time for more on the weekend. Kee's Western entry is great, BTW.
