Stories that have been edited, are removed from circulation, until they've been verified again by a Moderator.
This double handling is very time consuming for our Moderators who give up their time freely, so please make sure your work is finished and you're happy with it before submitting.
If it really needs to be changed down the track, please make it the last change.
In future we're programming into the site a one edit allowed per story rule to combat this problem.
Thank you.
Nicola
Story embellishments happen so few and far between, I can honestly say I have no idea! Good question.
I'll ask Gav. Logically it will remain where it is because the original story is untouched.
A note for those that like to waste Moderator's time - editing your story does NOT get it back onto the front of the site, it goes back to where it always was in the system.
There is no way to game the system and get your story to appear again on the front of the site.
Nicola, Just one thing I wanted clarified and that is, when you edit a story, do you lose or keep all your comments, views and votes?
I have an entry in the earth day competition and a couple of days later, I noticed a typo, but I am afraid to edit it just in case I lose them all. I am quite happy to leave it as it is (In one way, it is rather amusing. What should be "my breasts" is now "my beast") until the competition is over, but would also be happy if I could correct it.
Thanks beautiful lady, I will go and edit it now.

I have edited a couple of stories after they have posted...I often don't spot mistakes myself, my mind sort of automatically corrects them as I know what I wanted to say...so, I usually have to wait for them to be pointed out...
I always wait till the story passes the front page...
I appreciate that the mods have to read the story again, and I really hate to do it...I recall there was mention on another forum post about some software change that would allow the mods to spot the changes...is that happening??? I really do appreciate that being a mod is basically a thankless job, and I do hate sending them back, but I can be a perfectionist, as most of the authors I know are...is that software change going to happen? I would feel better sending a story back because one word is wrong knowing the mod does not have to re-read the whole thing...
Later,
Alan.
Yes Alan, there are systems in place now to highlight any changes so they don't have to be totally re-read, but it's still time consuming.
I recommend reading your stories several times, put them through our spellchecker, then read them again. Then again. Then submit.
I'm a very novice writer. I've written a sequel to my first and have sent it to two more experienced writers whom I've asked to do a review and corrections. Not all of us are experienced. After my first story, which I've edited a couple times, I run my word processor spell AND grammar check. Hopefully my reviewers will catch anything else that needs correcting.
I agree. On a web site, where stories are monitored and reviewed, this is a very necessary thing.
Thanks.....

Gee, thanks Gypsy for putting it all in perspective...but, who says I go out the door with my pants up and my shirt tucked in??? You're making assumptions...and you know what happens then...
Btw...I read the first paragraph of my latest story about six times, if not more...I spend a lot of time on the first paragraph, after that the rest sort of falls into place...anyway, sure as the sun comes up...wouldn't you know, as many times as I read it...it was not until it posted that someone pointed out the repitition of the word "he" in the last sentence...
I will never be able to proofread my own stories...
Later,
Alan.

Btw, Gypsy...so you don't think I'll get the Nobel prize for erotic story writing this year???...darn, you just ruined my day...
HMO stands for "Health Management Organization" (a system of private health insurance), and "the page" refers to the list of approved doctors under said system, which would make total sense to most Americans, but probably would be too obscure for most people outside the US to know. Whether that's grounds for changing the wording is not for me to say.
Why get so worked up over this? Alan will keep beating this point until it's in small canine-food chunks, and you'll get increasingly angry and self-righteous about your skills as a proofreader and arbiter on good writing (giving him the old "quote and shred" treatment), which I'm sure are indeed formidable.
Alan, I'll be glad to read your stuff if you'd like, though there are FAR more qualified writers and editors on the site.
