The jury is still out on this one FD. It seems about half the authors want to enforce signup so only members can vote and comment, and the other half don't.

My view is that perhaps it's best to open up scoring to everyone, but keep the comments to members only.

I think we should put it to a vote.

I agree...and thanks for putting it to a vote.

Sunset Grill - Sometimes you find love where you least expect it

All My Love - Real love can last a lifetime and still feel brand new.

High School Sweethearts - bringing back an old favorite for y'all to enjoy.

Tender Seduction - sometimes the long game pays off.

No problem. I think it's the fairest way to do it.
I agree. We've tried it both ways. Time to see what others think and then Lush can mull it all over and decide.
But even with that anyone can sign up and post a vote or leave nasty remarks. Maybe I just don't see the what the issue is. Are people really that concerned over ratings and scores, or are they writing to enjoy writing and leaving their work out there for others to enjoy?
another thing to think of is that not everyone comes into the forums to be able to vote. They just come to read.

I just don't think it's that big a deal. If you put something out to the public then you can't expect everyone to like what you put out. So you have to deal with it.
It nice to get votes, nicer still to get feedback. But neither is my main motivator. So here's my comment.

If you force a sign on to in order to vote you probably get rid of annonmous voters who rig the comments or add numbers or (heaven forbid) purposely vote down other stories to raise their positions in the most popular or viewed views.

If you allow anonomous votes many who do not want to be tracked think they are safer and might vote.

I prefer the comments so I would say let em all rip. Numbers are nice but it's easy to lie or rig stats.

btw... where is the button that lets you vote?
You all have made your points and because of your comments, I think I am changing mine.

You writers put your heart and soul into your work and SIGN it.
So why can't a commentor sign thiers?

Think before you write?

So no sign to a vote
Yes sign in to a Comment

Voting is a private matter, should not need to be known.

My opinion and you all changed it.

Bat
I posted my opinion here yesterday, and it's gone. No clue. Anyhoooo....

I do get childish comments about my stories, some needing deletion, but the vast majority of my followers are viewers not subscribed here. Sure, voting is bizarre, and my stories are both liked and disliked, but I would rather leave both options open for the unsubscribed.

I don't view this site as a place to hone my talent. For me, it is vehicle of expression. So limiting my viewers ability to react to my stories is not an option I favor.

I don't believe members are unbiased readers, and they can vote other writers' stories down. I rarely vote on another writer's stories, and every time I have given them a '5' or just not voted. But I don't believe that goes across the board.
Since I do not write for a rating, the overall comments guide me in how the readers like my stories.

Change it back. That's my vote.
I vote "nay" for forced signups. Although I have not written a story for a very long time, the comments I occasionally get now, and the ones I received during my writing days, are mostly from those 'anonymous' readers, and mostly encouraging. I do not mind the bad comments, unless they detract from everything and get too juvenile.
I understand view numbers, but to get an actual comment on a story that I wrote a long time ago is so nice.

You mean this one Sub?

It was in the poll.

Bat
Golly gee! My eyesight is leaving me. Honestly. Thanks, Bat. Now, where's my home? I've been wandering around and around...
Join the club Sub.

Seems I am misplacing comments of forgetting things I haven't typed.

To many things on an old mind - here.

But, I know the ladies will keep me straight.

Perhaps the preferred option may be to have a no comment wanted button ...
as other sites have
A few of my comments have dissapeared recently ..including today so
ASP..bitch a bit and they are removed it seems

Will have that added.

As far as the disappearing comments, I haven't removed any from your stories. Rather strange. I can ask my programmer to investigate if you're 100% sure.

No ..from comment I left for others
Was it just one comment DB? It could have been posted at the time the site was having a backup or something. Strange

Yesterday in fact and about 10 days ago on another.. but I figured out how to do it..I think ..

Just delete the story... then resubmit = comments gone..

Not worth worrying about ..
