I know that but they don't have me as a shortcut from their own page anymore, cause god knows I'm not willing to be friends with everyone. No matter how wonderfull they think I am.
Besides before people who tagged anyone as a friend couldn't see the features the person had decided only their friends would see. So I don't see the need in changing, I just used my friends list as a shortcut and to see when people I liked are online. As Im sure people who come here only to read have people friend-tagged to just jump to to the persons stories when they feel like it. without having to go and browse for the name.

a number of users expressed concerns that they were appearing on completely random members friends list. the problem is that people make the association that they are that member's actual friend, when in fact they do not know the person.
it could have ramifications if certain people appeared on a friends list of someone else, without them knowing.

Maybe it's my being a card-carrying misanthrope, but the appeal/value of a "friends" function has always escaped me. That attitude may explain, at least in part, the vast trickle of responses generated by my posts and stories.

Instead of you now just adding people, and they appear in your friend's list, even if they've never heard of you, you will get a request sent to you, which you have to either confirm or ignore. Makes much more sense this way.
