Howdy All…I want to start by saying that I joined this site in October on the recommendation of another member and I am very happy here…I really do feel it to be the best site of it’s type I have found. I have since recommended it to many people I have known from other sites, including some of the top authors on the site, currently, who are here because of my recommendation. That said, there is one thing that keeps Lush from merely being the best site, to the “perfect” site in my mind, and that is the number of stories I have had rejected here…
I started writing back in April 2009 for another site which has no real rules as far as age, violence or anything else for that matter. Heck, you could have submitted a story about kinky sex with underage barnyard animals and it would post.
Now that I have been on Lush for a few months, and have found a “home” here…one look at my profile would tell you that…I want to bring over as many of my stories as I can, including some that may have alluded to . I also want to get a better understanding of what is acceptable because I want to start writing more stories with Lush in mind. I think their over 16 rule is perfectly reasonable, it being the age of consent in most civilized countries, but as to what constitutes sex, or sexual activity on Lush is not clear to me. It probably does not help that I post my stories on eleven different sites and they all seem to have different rules. At least one story which got rejected by Lush for , was accepted by another site which has what would seem a stricter, over 18 rule. In addition, I am finding the mods to not always be as helpful as I would like…I understand they have a lot to do, and frankly I feel bad sending back a story repeatedly after changing a word or two.
To understand why I am posting this, here are some examples taken from my Lush rejection notices. The first was received after I had submitted “Young Lust, First Lust. Sweet Devotion.” The characters were 14 in the original version and I had added a paragraph stating that they had dated a couple of years before the shore scene. There were some other minor “sexual” acts, such as groping, which had to be removed. Prior to my removing those “acts”, I received this rejection notice:
“Reason for deletion:
Beyond innocent kissing, all references to sexual contact and activity between pre-16 year olds violates site guidelines. Moving that paragraph about 6th does not cure the problem”
OK, I thought that was fairly clear to me…I removed the groping, etc. that may have been outside of guidelines. But clearly, it states kissing is allowed.
I was able to get the story passed with a minimum of changes, which I was happy about. I felt any changes I had to make did not seriously detract from the spirit of the story.
More recently I submitted a humor based piece entitled “The Talk” which contains no actual sex…It is about a father who has “the talk” with his eleven-year-old son, and finds out the son knows far more about sex than he had expected. Again, it is a humor piece with no actual sex. Here is an excerpt from the Lush rejection notice:
“Content breaks our site guidelines. Exakta, even though your story doesn't contain actual sex, it still includes a discussion regarding sexual positions with an eleven year old. You'll need to change his age to sixteen to comply with site guidelines”
Now, here is where I start to get confused…more than I usually am…apparently kissing is alright, but talking about sex is not??? Am I the only one who would find this confusing?
I think part of what adds to my confusion is that this story was accepted by other sites which have what would appear to be a more stringent, over 18 rule. The story has no real sex in it.
Since joining Lush, I have written two pieces with Lush in mind. One was a humorous poem entitled “ Is Best” to take advantage of the popularity of stories and another was a contest entry. Since I find myself spending more and more time on Lush, it has become my favorite site of it’s type, I wish to write more stories with Lush primarily in mind. I don’t want to submit a story where the characters wait till their sweet sixteen party to have sex, only to have it rejected because they “talked” about it the week before. I would appreciate clarification on this because I have a short series of other stories planned, set in the sixties, along the lines of “A Night To Remember”, which did very well here. My hope is to be able to continue that success.
Thanks,
Alan.
I'm finding it hard to understand why, after countless private messages from both myself, and several other mods, you persist with this.
Along with that, why do you keep persisting on wanting to discuss of any description in stories? It repulses most people, including myself.
It's blatantly obvious to 99.9% of people what we mean when we say no characters under the age of 16 should be involved in sexual acts, or featured in your stories. Sure, a coming of age story, where perhaps they've kissed or had a quick grope behind the bike sheds would be permitted, however anything more raw than that wouldn't be passed.
You seem to think that because an 11 year old was not participating in any sexual act himself for example, that it would be acceptable that he were part of a plot. Does anyone else here want to hear about how 11 year old Timmy was taught about the doggy style from his Aunt? That was supposed to be a humour piece?
I suggest you contact me directly with any further questions you may have, instead of bringing this up in the forums. Nobody else here owns this site or has to reply to emails from authorities such as the FBI, asking for member details. Those do rather put me in an awkward position I can tell you, and yes, I do get them.
Hi Alan....let me try to help you out here.
It's pretty simple really. When you refer to any character as being in "high school" its kind of vauge. High school for most people is anywhere between 14 and 18. It helps all of us out (you, as the author so your stories are not rejected and Nic, as the owner of the site for legal reasons) just to state the actual age of the characters. And most importantly that they be at the age of consent according to the site rules. If you want your story posted, make sure you follow the site rules. You said that you have stories at 11 other sites. Maybe those 11 other sites do not take the time to read each story carefully to make sure there are no underage characters, or maybe they just don't care. But in fairness to this site, to Nic and to all the other moderators, lets try to keep the stories in the guidelines. Leave the vaugeness (sp) out of the stories and get straight to the point. Hope this helps out some.

Post moved to a more appropriate forum, seeing this is site feedback.

Thanks Pixie for your civilized answer...the ONLY reason why I took this public to the forums is because I have been getting conflicting answers as to what is acceptable, or very terse, non-responses...
For instance, I was told by a mod:
"RE: Your story has been removed
Message:
There is also the pre-16 groping, etc."
Whereas Nicola just stated:
"a quick grope behind the bike sheds would be permitted,"
I am ONLY trying to understand the rules of this site, as to what is acceptable...I don't think that is too much to ask as an author...
I don't understand the animosity...I am certainly not promoting or approve of it...I am only trying to understand what is considered so I can write stories for this site accordingly...
Thanks,
Alan.
Again, I ask, why do you consider pre 16 years of age "build up" necessary in your writing? Do you have a penchant for virgin stories or something? I've never come across an author before so stuck on the age issue.
It really is very simple, if there's anything sexual involved, the characters need to be at least 16. End of story.

I have to say that I am absolutely amazed at the animosity and snide comments I have been getting from members who apparently did not take the time to read my original question.
Yes, I understand the concept of characters having to be 16 or older to engage in sex acts, the whole point of this thread is to help myself and other authors understand how sex acts are defined and how the age of the characters can be established as it applies to Lush Stories. As stated previously, I really enjoy Lush, it has become my favorite site, and I want to be able to write without fear of my stories being rejected. As I stated earlier, I post on several sites, and I can tell you that different sites interpret what constitutes differently. This issue was brought home to me earlier, when my latest poem "Be My Little Whore Tonight" was rejected by another site, the name of which I will not mention. I felt it was understood that "little whore" was just an expression. To them, I was referring to sex with a minor.
Yes, I understand what over 16 means. I am not quite as dumb as I look. The question is how can I establish it without having to resort to lines like "we waited to have sex after her sweet 16 party" or other equally cheesy lines.
I am currently working on a story titled "Love And Haight" It is the sequel to "A Night To Remember" which happened to be very well received here at Lush. Like its predecessor, this story is told from the point of view of an older friend Gary, who is currently 62 years of age. I created him and the screen name 67Goat on another site so I could write stories set in the sixties in the first person point of view. I feel I write best that way. In this story he travels to Haight-Ashbury during the Summer Of Love, along with a friend who wants to go out there to film the goings on. It is roughly based on events relayed to me by an older friend who did go out there to film. Anyway, in the story along the way, they pick up a hitchhiker. She is a teenage runaway. I would have liked to have been able to establish her age without having to have her say something like "I just turned 16" or some other cheesy line which is obviously placed in the story to meet certain rules. I feel like I may have no other choice. I had asked one of the mods if establishing that the character was in high school was sufficient, but was told that high schoolers can be anywhere from 13 to 18. I know when I went to school, it was junior high schoolers who were in the younger teenage years. I have also received conflicting answers regarding such things as "groping" by minors and whether or not it is acceptable. That is why I resorted to posting my questions here.
If you read my latest story when it comes out, you will see I am not promoting . The events depicted are part of the normal teenage experience.
My story writing hobby has become a significant part of my life in the past several months. I often spend many hours of my life writing a story. I have been known to spend hours trying to get one paragraph right. To have to change something I have put so much into is something I am trying to avoid as an author. I think this can be avoided if what is acceptable were to be defined a bit more clearly. I really did not think that this was too much to ask. Hopefully someone else will actually read what I wrote here and understand.
Thanks,
Alan.
Alan, Honey......I just don't see how it can be any clearer. I just.....I just don't know how to get you to understand. All I can say is to stay away from the reference to the teen years at all.

I understand what you're saying but, I think if you posed the question to Nicki she might be able to help you. "Mid teens" perhaps as a phrase? You need to ask her. You just don't want to use cheesy lines as "sweet 16" etc.
As for groping, touching or anything like that before 16, I'd leave it out. But again, ask her. She owns the site and evidently you're getting mixed signals from others.
I hear ya Alan.
The question I roll over in my mind is - why even mention any ages of any characters? By the same token, why mention height, weight, physical measurements. When I read stories where all of those are spelled out for me, they tend to (for me) interfere with my mental image of the characters which I like to insert mentally - myself.
When I write, it is rare that I mention exact sizes or ages, I try to leave those as generalities for my audience to play with as they see fit. I rarely see other established authors in other genres, mentioning the exact age or size of their characters.
I do see it done a lot (for me way too much) in this erotica field. And I suppose it's just a personal preference for me - but, again...it just makes everything seem a bit more clinical, exact, mechanical.
