Can we do something to make it where you are alerted when you have a new message while using the chat feature? Blinking or a buzz sound or something?

Does anyone have a sound they can help out with? A little .mp3 to indicate a message?

I prefer the option to have both, flashing is good because in the office I can't be having kerplunk noises going off every few minutes.

Thanks DB, but that just crashed my mediaplayer. It needs to be an mp3 apparently, and the smaller the better.

I like the magic fairy wand.....LOL But any would do, and I agree with Lush. A blink and sound would be good.

ok folks here is what we have:

#1 Page title words blink (works in all browsers)
#2 Sound is played upon new message (works in all, however for firefox you may need to disable then re-enable flash)
#3 Window gets the focus (works in IE only)

hopefully there's enough things here now to let you know when you get new messages

let me know if you need help with anything....

Works well Gav.

The sound gets irritating after a very short while, and there's no way to turn it off other than turning down your speekars. Not so great if you are listening to music at the same time.

I'd link the "Change Chat Settings" to a small options screen instead of your own profile page - there would be the setting to make yourself visible to all / friends only / nobody, a checkbox for playing sounds, show picture, maybe alter font colour / size / type?

Is the sound debate over? Oh well, any choice from our fearless leader is fine by me.

But for anyone who is bored and has no fear of irritating anyone other than yourself, start at the top and drag the mouse down the list...It's amusing for a minute. kekekegay

Ok if I am following this correctly, there will be a sound AND a flash?? The sound works, and if you have the chat box minimized it will pop back up, but I didnt see any flashing.

where's a flasher smiley when you need one kekekegay

if your using internet explorer and the chat window is minimised, if will come to the front when a new message arrives and play a sound. however, if the window it just hidden behind another, if *may* flash.

flashing proves very difficult, in firefox i had to switch the title, so that it blinks. im afraid this is as good as it gets for a browser application.
