Why can people still see me browsing the forums when I am in stealth mode? The whole point of me being in stealth is so that I don't have to talk if I don't want to. And they can see me perving in the Gold Lounge over Sprite getting her bits out for everybody, or hovering in the Sex Tips section for juicy info. And then they black box me and are all, "I saw you hovering and thought I'd say hello..."

So, why doesn't invisible mean invisible everywhere like on other forums I'm on? It might cure my Fred Guest problem if you made me invisible in the forums too. Please?

The forum code is a whole separate beast and cannot (yet) be tamed to allow users to remain invisible while browsing.

Ya just gotta be faster... duck in, duck out before they see you lurking and pounce with those black-box chats! glasses8

* for people concerned about this, another good option is to turn off the 'forum post notification' in your status feed so that friends aren't alerted when you make a new forum post.

Thanks, lovely people. I'm just not often up to being able to chat, and people get funny with me when I am constantly saying "Sorry, but...". Chatting and posting in a forum are two different skills, but sometimes people can't understand the difference, and think I'm being rude. I'm really not. And I can't help but reply to them, as I feel I'd be even ruder to ignore them when they've no doubt seen me lurking.

Is there anywhere I can dispose of a guilty conscience? tard

I have a solution for you... just use your "away" message option. That way when people black-box you, you can just say something like, "Sorry, I'm busy. If it's urgent send me a PM". I've done that before. That way everyone gets the same message and you don't have to feel guilty about ignoring anyone because you will have never received the black-box in the first place. smile

Just because you're set to stealth mode, or away, it doesn't mean that you have time to chat...

If someone pings me when I'm set to either of those (and I am MOSTLY set to stealth - I like stealth so much better than "hidden". It makes me feel like a Lush Ninja! (Ha, Daisy, you must be in Ginga mode!))

If I am at my screen and someone pokes or pings and I have the time, then I will reply... If I'm busy, I'll usually just say that I am busy and will talk to them another time.

I do have a small handful of friends with whom I chat whether I'm 'online' or not...

As Doll said, you can add a message, so that if you ARE set to away, anyone who IMs you will get an automated reply. The only thing is that it means that EVERYONE who tries to talk to you will get that, so if you like to stay hidden-ish and chat, you can't have an away message...

when i really don't want to talk to anyone, yeah, i set up my away with an automatic message - it makes me nervous, though, cause there are a select few here who i welcome being black boxed no matter what. i'm not going to name names, but i think they know who they are. that all said, if you black box me and i ignore you, i hope you don't take it personally (this is for everyone). there's usually a very good reason why i won't answer, and it has nothing to do with the sender. such as:

am away from keyboard.

i am chatting with someone else about something really important and just miss you single black box in the midst of all the chaos.

i am modding a story

i am having a session with my Mistress (blushes).

i just don't feel like talking to ANYone

i am about to go off line

fill in the blank. smile

btw, i NEVER take it personally if i send a BB to someone and i don't get a reply. i get it. they are people i love no matter what and i don't expect them to be at my beck and call every waking moment. :)
