The Manchester Pride Festival is an annual 4 day celebration of LGBT life which is taking place on the 24 -27 August 2018.

This includes:
?The Manchester Pride Parade on the streets of the City Centre.

?The Candlelit Vigil in Sackville Park.

? The Superbia Weekend.

? The Big Weekend, a ticketed event with over 100 artists and DJs in Manchester’s world famous Gay Village. Tickets are available RIGHT NOW for only £20.

Btw, for those of you in the Seattle Area, Pride day is June 24th. Despite my intense dislike of crowds, it rarely miss, and it's super fun.

For those of you in San Francisco, it's June 23rd. true story, back in my younger days i once rode on the bike of one of the Dykes with Bikes motorcycles to start the parade out. Also, the night before, they do a parade that's really cool. i assume they still do? it's not a full on parade, more of a gathering and walk, but it's a great way to meet girls - if you're a girl. biggrin

Pride isn't until July here in London, Ontario (19th-29th), mostly to avoid conflicts with both the local music festival scene and other Pride festivals around Ontario (esp. Toronto, which is huge).

However, that doesn't mean LGBTQ persons and their allies can't start celebrating in June.

I don't like the bi-sexual flag's design. I get the symbolism behind the colors, but flags become symbols themselves, and if the design is not great then the symbol is not great IMHO. It may look better as an actual flag, made of some shiny fabric, but as a printed symbol (in ink or on screen) the colors look just crappy and particularly dull in my mind.

As I commented in 2018, my city's Pride festival isn't until late July. They are planning to go ahead with ... something. Sounds like it will be mostly virtual events, some of them versions of events that happen normally (workshops, speakers, etc.) some of them stuff that is geared to virtual. I believe the outdoor festival and parade are off, though I can't find anything in their statements to confirm that.

For my part, I remain mostly closeted (save on here and a couple other sites) but will be celebrating in spirit, I guess. Should hunt around and see what I did with my Pride ape that Liz banged out for me (last year?). Probably on the other computer.
