ohhhh i remembered my question....and sorry if it was asked already. i read page 1-3 and 6 missed 4 and 5. but if your lucky to be gifted the bronze....which i dont know how you know clearly...and you want to upgrade. can you do that?
thanks
my newest :)
I suppose I could act as a lab rat to see if something works as intended. I'm a grandfathered, published author, but currently gold. It runs out on the 15th, so I'll be a good test case of whether current paid memberships will switch to the grandfathered bronze upon expiring.
I assume this has been accounted for ~_^ If not, I can act as the canary in the coal mine for addressing it before it becomes an ongoing problem.
Most likely will re-up my gold for the priority posting once done playing lab rat.
Well, it will do me some good whenever my vacationing muse decides to send me a bleedin' postcard from wherever she's run off to. Most likely somewhere near the equator away from this cold...
This is minutia, but I've never read what membership involves until now: as an honorary Bronze member, do I get 1 free ebook on Amazon?
I think the new pay format is extremely generous to existing members. Thanks, Nicola!
This is not a question or answer but I have just found something out that I think is worth sharing.
Someone tells me that if you are a member having signed up prior to1/1/15, and you were not an author at the end of 2014, and you purchase Bronze now, bearing in mind nothing changes for those accounts until the end of June 2015, the Bronze membership starts 1st July 2015 for one year.
Makes sense but I thought it worth highlighting since people may be thinking I will buy Bronze but towards the end of June to get the full year.
Hi, I am a published author on this site, albeit only one story (so far).
Can someone please explain the rules for getting the lifetime bronze membership? I thought if you had a story published prior to 1/1/15, you got a lifetime bronze.
My profile does not indicate any kind of membership, but if I click on the premium link there is a message there stating that I have been given a bronze membership until July.
Many thanks
I apologize if this has been asked, if we were to upgrade from silver to gold , do we pay the difference or the full amount? Thanks!
The way it currently works, is if you upgrade, 12 months gets added to your existing membership, and your membership levels changes to the upgraded one.
For example, if you have a Bronze Membership which expires in August 2015, and you upgrade to Gold, then your membership level turns to Gold, and is valid until August 2016.
I noticed/verified that members who posted stories in the past have been given Bronze membership till 2032 (like one of my friends)
Now, since I havent posted any stories (yet) I was given the 6 months of Bronze membership (thru July).
My question is this. If a free/Bronze member currently post stories, or in the future start to post a few stories, will Bronze membership still be given to these authors or was this only for authors that have already been established in the previous membership system?
Authors submitting stories / poems (for the first time), from 1 Jan 2015 onwards, may be gifted a Bronze Membership, depending on the standard (a "ho hum" story or poem won't qualify) of their submission. All story verifiers have the ability to hand these out.
We decided to do this, because it hopefully encourages people to submit work which has been carefully crafted, and acts as a small reward for contributing to the site.
Thank you for the clarification.
I was thinking the same thing. Im sure I will end up purchasing Bronze, but i would hate to see this new system allow new members to post content but not "reward" them for contributing to the site.
Thank you
Guinea pig reporting in.
My Gold expired on the 15th. I gave it a couple of days to let any lag shake out, and I haven't seen the grandfathered Bronze show up yet.
It's probably something that needs looked into, because life happens, and people who currently have paid memberships may not be able to afford them in the future. Since they qualify for the grandfathered Bronze, they should get it like everyone who was free at the time of the switch to Freemium.
If it will help to stay as-is for testing new code, let me know. Otherwise, I'll be going back to Gold in a day or two.
No problem. I had to loan my sister some money, so I may have to wait for my tax check to re-up my Gold anyway *laugh*
What do the diffrent levels offer? Or where do i find out.
I went through all 7 pages and didn't see anyone bring this issue up, so forgive me if I missed it.
One of my biggest issues here is the large number of people that open an account and then delete it, sometimes the same day, but quite often within a month. These people seem to know the ins and outs of Lush far too well to be true newbies to the site, so I highly suspect they are trolls. In fact, I have an unwritten rule that I won't add anyone until they've been on the site for at least a month.
By giving someone 90 days of access to certain features and then taking those features away, it seems you are only encouraging people to open new accounts. If they do so without deleting the first one, they will just be contributing to the bandwidth problem. It just seems it's encouraging trolling. I for one would like to see that, and all the problems that come with it, go away. No longer could someone create an account only to downgrade a story or use it to screw with members.
Now I hate when people complain but don't offer suggestions to make it better--perhaps the soldier in me. I suggest giving only basic features to new members, and the longer they stay, the more free features open up. I am very thankful for my bronze badge, but to be honest, I think those veterans that are still active should be given those as well. They have been with you since the beginning and their loyalty deserves to be compensated too.
In the end, it's your site and I respect your decisions. Just take this for what it's worth....a look at the situation from another angle.
