Can you tell me (or did you know) why the time shown as an item is posted in UK is always one hour earlier than the actual time here? For instance I just posted on the forum at 09.19 and it was shown as 08.19. Only a little thing, but irritating nevertheless. Here in UK we operate on GMT at the moment.

Edit. And this is timed at 08.29 whereas it is actually 09.29.
I've noticed the time shift as well. Here it's just before 6am, but the Forum clock at the top of the main Forum Page shows it as just before 11am

Sounds like the software time is set to Iceland or something in that time zone
Have you checked the time zone on your personal details page. Mine was set to the wronge zone and therefore the times were wrong. Anyhow I don't think a wrong posting time is a big deal. Just report it and wait til it gets fixed.
Just noticed my time is still wronge. I'm on east Greenland time, same as you. Probably just the server time.

I know you posted that message at 5:17:46 PM, Sydney time.

I think people expect to see when someone posted in the forums, their time. So I expected the time stamp on your forum post, to tell me it was posted Monday, February 17, 2014 5:17:46 PM, not posted @ Monday, February 17, 2014 5:17:46 AM.

The forum software must be translating everything back to LA time, regardless of your settings.

EDIT: I just posted this reply at 8:31 PM Sydney time, but the forum reports:

Posted: Monday, February 17, 2014 8:31:34 AM.

I think you overrode the forum admin timezone settings, didn't you? They are set to GMT -7.

The difference between California and Sydney, is 19 hours.

Maybe, 19 hours - 7 hours, is the unexplained 12 hours out of sync?

I give up!
Just been back to check my time zone and they are all wrong. It is showing London (English) time as GMT, but on the postings is is giving GMT - 1. ie. this is being posted at 12.50, but will show as 11.50. If GMT is wrong, then all others will be by at least one hour.
If you check the main forum page, there's a clock at the top that tells you what time the forum is set to. I figure it's easier to have everyone's posts indicate one time zone, rather than indicating every individual poster's time. I have added an extra clock to my windows clocks. It's called L, for Lush. Helps me keep it straight.

Edit: The forum time zone is UTC (-1:00), according to my computer.

There's a clock there?

It tells me:

Current time: 8:21:25 PM.

No, the current time is 8:11:25 AM

Where does it get the 12 hours, and the 10 mins discrepancy from?

The 10 minutes are a mystery to me. I just went with the closest time zone, which according to windows is UTC (-1:00). That's Cape Verde Islands, plus a few minutes. No, I don't know why.

I imagine this is something that Gav will have to resolve for us. I hate saying that, because I know he's swamped. For now, I treat the forums as if they exist in a time zone not recognized by the real world. You should be proud! Lush is its own reality!

Wow, hold up. I wonder if it cycles even in relation to user time zones. That would make it *really* confusing. My brain hurts.

Then it must have traveled back in time because here it was posted 7 minutes earlier. But I accepted that Lush exists outside of our limited understanding of reality.
Time is nature's way of keeping everything from happening simultaneously. I like the current time stamp...whatever it is. ;)

Time dilation
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the theory of relativity, time dilation is an actual difference of elapsed time between two events as measured by observers either moving relative to each other or differently situated from gravitational masses.
An accurate clock at rest with respect to one observer may be measured to tick at a different rate when compared to a second observer's own equally accurate clocks.
This effect arises neither from technical aspects of the clocks nor from the fact that signals need time to propagate, but from the nature of spacetime itself.

I think I solved the riddle of the mixed up times. If you can save your settings page (the one with the timezone selection) and then check a post in the forum, you *should* see things back to normality.

Testing....

EDIT:
Mine was showing GMT-1, NOW it's showing GMT+1 !!!!!! The correct time of posting this is now...... 8.49
