We need to impose a max sig image size, some people's sigs are getting out of hand again. I don't think this was ever really finalised.
It's bad for site speed, and people on lesser connections suffer. Plus if the member is the prominent poster in a particular thread, it looks like they are totally dominating the whole page.
I think it wouldn't be a bad idea if we could have the option to turn sigs off completely, at a member level, in your settings too.
What would people like the size limit to be?

I know a number of other forums I frequent the signature size is automatic you can't change it if you go over what you add the forum software won't let you upload it till you get it down to the required size. And yes I noticed a lot of the picture sigs are getting crazy big. Having said that 500x150 seems a good max size to me.
Plus, people access the forum from their phones, too, right?

Most phones have the option to turn off images while surfing, mine does.
It should be fairly easy to restrict the image size in the code, but I know this off-the-shelf software can be hard to work with.
Sweetbitch's sig is wide, but because it's not really deep it doesnt seem all that big. Is there a total size we could go for, so it could stretch out as long as its not too tall? Or are you stuck with little rectangles for programming reasons?
Personally I'd like to see a limit on the width as well. Anything over 800 and I have to scroll horizontally to read the posts on a thread where a wider sig was used even once.
Big sig images are returning - does this need to be bumped?

I was once told in a message by Coco: "Signatures are restricted to 10 lines of text to keep the site clean looking and fast loading. Images can be up to 500 x 150 px in dimension. Please keep signature images below 75kb out of courtesy to people on slower connections."
I see sizes larger (and smaller) from every sort of member, but perhaps if the signature manually sized the sig or would not except an image "larger than" that might help - I do not know, but that might make it easier so that no one must police or remove some sigs while others unfairly remain larger (?) Signatures are a priviledge, yet when I was new, I did not know any such things because there was no defining limit or statement on the signature add page.
There are some crazily large sigs just now...

I think they should be limited to the standard ten lines or equivalent image size...
